For the most nutritionally dense plant foods in just days, look into MICROGREENS
Hey I'm growing those exact biquinho peppers this year! Can't wait to grill and pickle some!
When you're going over these gardening videos can you give tips on what type of fertilizer to use for soil to use
great video as always
I've started my indoor garden journey last year by growing herbs with my AeroGarden for the first time and I have to say this was the best decision for a starter garden for people living within limited spaces.
With basil, cut the buds before the flower or they'll want to go dormant
You can also coat the top of the soil with diatomaceous earth to interrupt the life cycle of soil borne insects. About a half inch layer works well and it is full of minerals for the soil.
Question do you take your garden seed for your micro-green ? Thank you for your good ideas 😊
Indoor meat livestocks?
Used a battery tooth bross for the flower work great
I use a combination of AeroGardens (five of them and counting …), Kratky jars and regular soil pots. It's important to keep your soil pots in a room separate from your hydroponics set-ups. Fungus gnats often live in soil and can transfer soil-borne diseases to the water-grown plants. To date, I have grown, micro cherry tomatoes (Orange Hat variety), dwarf Siberian kale, four or five types of lettuce, dill, basil, watercress, mini bok choy and mini peppers. I have compact cucumbers in the growing queue. It's important to run a small fan in the vicinity of indoor gardens to help reduce fungal diseases and to strength plant stems (no summery breezes to do this for you).
I got jalapeño, cilantro and Cheyanne plants growing right now.
Buy a grow tent for indoor growing, you can control the climate a lot easier.
We have always bought garlic from the grocery store and planted them sprout side down. Great success. We use the tall green of the garlic as it grows in fried potatoes ect.
I also do kitchen scrap gardening, especially head lettuce, celery and onion bottoms, green onions. They don't produce a lot but i get a little more out of each vegetable before it eventually goes to the compost pile. I also dehydrate and powder lots of vegetables, such as beets, spinach and other greens (even lettuce), squashes, tomatoes, carrots, rutabaga, etc. as well as apple peels (add these especially to quick breads, muffins, oatmeal etc.). Great for adding a nutrient boost to sauces, desserts, smoothies, beans, soups, breads, ground beef dishes, even rice etc, 3 tablespoons of powder is equal to 1 cup of fresh veggies. Even using a teaspoon of several veggie powders to a meatloaf can significantly add nutrients without changing the flavor especially if you are using strong tasting powders such as spinach or beets. Also consider storing and using things like nutritional yeast, whey powder, flax and chia seeds to enrich all kinds of dishes, incuding salads, especially if sprouted. My favorite popcorn seasoning is nutritional yeast and kelp powder! Flax and chia seeds can even be used as egg substitues in baking or meatloaves or lasagna. Yogurt, fruit (or jam), chia seeds and whey powder makes a great "pudding". Since a little of these items goes a long way, it is easy to store a variety of nutrients in a fairly small space. Also if you have "picky" eaters, you can "hide" a lot if nutrients in spaghetti sauce, meatloaf or non meatloaf or even brownies this way!
I LIVE IN A DUPLEX AND DON'T HAVE ANY KITCHEN WINDOWS; THE ONLY WINDOWS ARE IN THE LIVING ROOM AND BEDROOM SO I HAVE TO PLANT EVERYTHING OUTSIDE HERE IN WEST CENTRAL FLORIDA AND FIGHT THE SQUIRRELS OUT OF MY TOMATOES. MY HUSBAND IS GOING TO HELP BUILD CAGES AROUND THE BEDS TO KEEP THE SQUIRRELS OUT.
this is a problematic scenarion, people coming to take your food, but indoor gardening isn't viable enough at scale for most folks.
That deer in the cameo clip was looking suspicious, saying who me nah! What tomatoes?
Great video! Thank you!
Thank you for posting about this ! We’re in Texas where Mother Nature has some serious mood swings ! I’ve been wanting to send my baby plants outside, but either we have scorching heat in spring or like today where we had iphone sized hail!! I just told my husband that we may be turning our first living room into an indoor greenhouse ! It’s ridiculous out here 🤷♀️
Broccoli sprouts! 😋👍
thanks – great ideas! Finding window space is somewhat challenging
I've recently been growing the Hamama brand of microgreen sprouts. The broccoli are my favorite. The kale wasn't as fun to eat fresh, so I put them in our smoothie. I have cabbage sprouts growing right now. Obviously, this is not a long-term solution financially, but I'm having fun right now just learning about growing microgreens.
Tap water has chemicals the plants don't want or need. Fluoride, chlorine etc. Put your water in an open top container for 2-3 days before you put them on the plants and most of those chemicals will off gas. And, your plants will grow faster.
Hello have a good day.
Last winter I successfully grew indeterminate cherry tomatoes indoors. It was fun and very satisfying to pick fresh tomatoes for a Christmas salad. Planning to do it again this year.
Great to see a different style of video, and thanks for the advice for growing vegetables indoors
………
Grow sunflowers outside during the summer, harvest the seeds and use them for micro-greens during the winter.
You can grow microdwarf tomatoes like a houseplant in a 1/2 gallon to 1 gallon sized pot in a south facing window. It’s easy to pollinate bu using an electric toothbrush and simply touching the branch with blossoms and having the pollen shake off.
Thanks for the information.
Grow. Barter with seeds
I was growing outdoor plants & the landlord made me move them inside saying their insurance company said they were a fire hazard. And if I didn’t remove them I could be evicted or have my rent raised.
I was growing things inside. But now I have rats.
It’s very discouraging…
I have used stupid cheap led grow lights that broke in a month for 20$. Seriously buy a grow light used by cannabis growers, I am slowly changing to go for them. I spent more on lights already broken than it would have cost for a good grow light that will last for years. Cost more up front but saves in costs over time.
I reuse my kitchen water for Garden it has nutrients
Thank you for this great video! I'm about to rearrange my entire house to put shelves in all of my windows so I can have fresh vegetables all year.
You can get rid of fungus gnats by sprinkling diatomaceous earth on top of the soil. Those sticky traps work good too.
Remember to snip the flower stalks off the basil to keep it alive
I live in a cold climate and with all the food recalls on vegetables for e coli, I've resorted to growing indoors during the cold months using a cheap $30 grow light from home depot
Very perfect, extremely beautifulwashhands.
Whatever you do don’t use LEDs
I’d love to have recommendations on what I can do to help my plants grow better like banana peel water for the potassium and potato peel water just helpful recycling tips
Well presented and on point! 🌱 Glad to see more voices in this niche!
Ignore nearly everything he said if you have cats or a dogs (Pets in general). The conditions must be correct for plants to grow without harmful toxins!
