What are you using this water dispenser for? Personally, I only use it to warm coffee mugs for our drip brew.

Pre-wetting the steam wand wipe towels and generally any towel I want a little bit damp is a decent use, or to quickly wash off our metal whisks after we’ve used them in various drinks.

I use it to wet a towel and wipe down the back wall of the machine and to get the extra gunk off the steamer if it wasn’t cleaned properly before!

On the machines where you can program how long it stays on for, I use it to rinse shot glasses. Otherwise, just rinsing the bar spoon I guess.

Rinse off whisks, americanos, get the heavy stubborn syrups out of the pitchers, a spot of it to wet and whisk the chai powder

PSA – Please don’t use that water for Americano or tea. Boiler water is kind of nasty.
Consider that the coffee water goes through a heat exchanger. It’s not boiler water, it’s fresh cold water, flash heated for your drink. Delicious.
Boiler water stagnates and loses its capacity to carry oxygen, making it taste flat. And when you take out steam you’re effectively taking only H2O, leaving whatever was dissolved in the water behind. Sometimes boiler water ends up looking like soup broth. Yuck.
It’s fine for rinsing and warming, but if you want hot water for drinking I recommend you put a fresh cold water in a jug and heat it with the wand to whatever temperature you want.
And, for what it’s worth, I recommend dumping around 10% of the boiler capacity from the boiler every day to help dilute (or prevent) accumulated gunk. So, for a typical two group with an 11 liter boiler, dump about a liter a day day (in two batches). And, while you’re at it, flush a half liter from each group every morning to keep your heat exchangers clean.

Rinsing off the shot glasses in between uses lol it dispenses the exact amount to full the glasses.

Just use it to warm mug or rinse spoon. Don’t get water from it to make Americano or the like, or you’ll use up the container of your boiler such that you may need to wait for enough pressure to make your espresso….

You should use it once a week if you have a dual boiler or heat exchanger. Takes water out of the boiler which reduces minerals. Steam is pure h20 so it will extend the life of your machine by years to let the boiler a bit run out once a week so it doesn’t concentrate.

I clean every piece of equipment that won’t be damaged by the temp or water with it as often as needed.

Rinsing shot glasses. Why would you guys rinse out your portafilters with that? Then your screen on the group head won’t get rinsed?
workshopmonk
I train people to use this spout as little as possible. Water tastes bad and it drains from the steam boiler, which can affect steam pressure. Rinse portafilters with the group.
