I got a vacuum sealer to save more of my smokes (leftovers die quick at my house. No one wants them).

Anyone have experience with these? Any recommendations what to cook and seal? Love hearing what others are doing.

I have similar experience when smoking larger pieces of meat such as brisket or pulled pork.

I have a chamber vac that I use to seal and freeze any leftovers for another time.

Works great for pulled pork as well. I will always smoke 2 butts on the KJ and after shredding the pork, I will freeze in smaller portions. When the kids have a craving for sandwiches, it’s pretty much on defrosted and heated up on a bun within 30 mins max.

Iats the best way to go. I smoke 2 or 3 pork butts at a time. We eat on it for a day and vacuum seal the rest in 1/2lb portions and stick in the deep freezer. We will use them to make al kinds of dishes over the next few months. Heated up, and it tastes just like it did the day it was smoked.

I think it’s better to vac and freeze raw meat, than cooked. I don’t think smoked meat will be very good after more than a few months no matter the method. So I vote raw for vac longevity and just plastic wrap or something similar for cooked meat. Unless money doesn’t matter at all and you just want to play with the vacuum sealer, then hell yes. lol. But I use it for large or multiple cuts of meat and freeze them long term in these, short term freezes don’t require the expensive bag “sleeves”.

I vacuum seal a ton of leftovers. It works very well. Cut a slit in the bag and nuke it for one to two minutes.
