I’m not an expert, but I would have started more wood and less charcoal. The wood turns to charcoal, and you can always add more after a few hours of smoking. I’m sure it will come out fine, but will probably be done before the smoke penetrates very far.
On the other hand, I suffer from seasonal grilling disorder, so don’t take my comment too seriously.

Careful putting the wood chunks longways like that. Couple years ago i did that on my first attempt at a snake and it ignited alot more coal than i wanted. Wont kill your cook but keep an eye on your temp and remaining coal amount
