I work as a barista at a soda shop (it’s a Utah thing) and while doing some deep cleaning I noticed these floating particles in the some of the syrup bottles. Is it mold? We have over 50 different syrup flavors and the only ones with them are lime. They’re all unopened and they don’t expire until Feb. of 2027. After shaking a bottle the particles dissolved but I don’t know if that really means anything. The one bottle we had opened also had the particles but luckily we almost never use lime syrup in drinks, since most people want fresh lime instead. We put the bottles to the side for now but I have no idea what this could be. Is it possible for there to be mold in sealed bottles? Is it maybe a problem with the batch of syrup?
