Opened this for some family over the weekend. It was tasty although not everything I hoped. I opened it about 4 hours before drinking, the alcohol was pretty strong. Couldn't taste much fruit but my skills aren't good enough to tell you anything else

I think its an average brunello, in the netherlands you see this everywhere because one of the main wine importers has this in stock and all smaller wineshops have this brunello. 40-50 euro, had one and won’t buy again (better alternatives at that price level).
Brunello is not very fruity, some plum and cherry but also more earthy notes.
I do like their Rosso. It’s pretty solid QPR for $25 USD.
Glad I’m seeing this discussion now, as I’ve been considering getting this for ~90 USD at Costco. So I’ll probably pass.
It seems like Pogg is getting some shade here but for me it’s a solid Brunello and something that is high volume but decent quality for an OK price. I think of it like I think of Proddutori for Barberesco
One of my favorite Brunello and Rosso producers, but Montalcino sangiovese can be fickle, Il Poggione included. Did you decant it for 4 hours prior to drinking, or just pop the cork and leave the wine in the bottle? Also, did you pour a taste right when you opened it?
Maybe check out super tuscans if you prefer a more fruity style, brunello and chianti have to grow on you.
Vintage plays a part. 12 was for young consumption.
Drank the 2019 on Christmas and it was really great, almost as good as a 2012 Vigna Paganelli that I had some weeks prior.
For 40€ it is one of the best Brunello IMHO.
