My son requested a rainbow/ABCs birthday cake for his 5th birthday. I figured I'd try my hand at making it myself although I've never done one before since baking intimidates me/is not my forté. It's a chocolate Funfetti 4 layered cake with homemade chocolate buttercream, filled with M&M minis &non-pariels, &a burn cake layer on top for extra fun. It's not perfect &I made a lot of mistakes that I know for next time, but he absolutely adored it &that means the world to me! 🌈🎂🖤

    Edit #2 – *non-pareils .. 🙄😂

Edit #1 – A user in another community reminded me that I never got a picture of the inside, so [here’s some screenshots](https://imgur.com/a/SeMLgzW) from the video my oldest took of us cutting into it.

How do you make the icing that color pattern? Stuff like that is always a mystery to me.

What omg yum! This looks incredible. I can’t imagine the lint of time and effort that went into this cake! 10000/10. I’d be so happy receiving a cake like this. You deserve way more appreciation for this cake than you have. This is amazing and looks delicious 🙂

Your first?! You did an amazing job. I’m thinking of doing a candy surprise for my girl’s birthday and I think this might have convinced me😀
