change in management has caused them to try and mega save money at the pub im at, expected to handle this myself in a 2 hour stretch and fed up of feeling like a kitchens "mug" to do the dirty work.

Yeah I would quit unless they were offering me more money for doing more work that is ridiculous fuck those people. On the other hand though I’m going to be real with you that doesn’t look too bad LOL like you can handle this if you know what you’re doing and working efficiently but I don’t understand the setup and how things are going over there so I’m just taking this as it’s a lot of work for you so if you aren’t getting paid for doing a lot more work I would leave.

Right in the middle of service. Be the villain.

  3. marshmallowrocks

Nah just go slow. Don’t push yourself any harder just go the same speed you were before and wait for the complaints to start piling in. It’s not your fault your short staffed

  4. QuickRevivez

Depends what you’re getting paid and if you think they will reward you for taking on more responsibility for same pay.

If you aren’t being paid enough and don’t expect them to reward an employee for allowing them to cut costs then leave. Don’t wait for them to hire more people and cover their ass, burn them now so management has to cook. Only way they will learn.

I don’t think that’s an unreasonable amount of tickets but on top of prep and clean up I’d personally voice my concerns for better pay right after I get an offer elsewhere.

  5. heyyouyouguy

I don’t condone it. When you see the tickets hitting the floor is when you bitch. This is nothing.

  6. VoerDeKoe

Just leave, call the managers and tell them to deal with that.
If you pull this off they’ll expect you to do this every day.

  7. neppynite

How about you put down the phone and start cooking? Looks like you got some orders to fill.

  8. KelliNMike2408

You’re on social media asking strangers if you should quit. What you SHOULD do is get off social media, make your own decisions, and grow up

  9. MetricJester

Mention to your boss that you’re thinking of quitting if there isn’t more help in the kitchen.

Being punished for being a good worker. I’ve been in that spot many times. Quit now…it only gets worse*

Get you resume in order and start looking immediately. I would never advise quitting with no plan in mind. Like another commenter said go slow and make the tickets correctly to the best of the ability. Don’t pay attention to the people saying “just shut up and do your job.” That is a lot of work before and after tickets wrap up. Express your concerns honestly and without contempt, and get you resume prepared to move on.

When customers complain, that orders are taking a long time, make sure the servers let them know that management cut back on staff BOH.

  13. rabbidasseater

Seriously man it’s burgers wings and garlic mushrooms and chips. Just get another double frier. That’s like 2 chefs extra

  14. jschandler

Organize your tickets get starters out so people have something to eat while they wait and make the food as good as you can and as timely as you can. 1 person can only do so much but don’t sacrifice the quality you are capable of. They will be fine to wait if the food is worth it. Don’t stress it’s just food. They all go home eventually. I would sandbag some shit in this case though for sure lol 😂

One at a time, when your food is fired on the first, pull the proteins for the next.

  16. ifuaguyugetsauced

Wait your by your self for 2 hours. Fuck that. Not only are you fucking over the guests with longer wait times and more or less a shitty quality of food. You’re going to be running around like your head is cut off, stressing. Get another body/ies or find a new job

  17. thesmokemage

I had something similar to me, like others have said work at a pace that doesn’t stress you out and if people complain be like I’m sorry it’s just me back here when this should be a two or three man op, also maybe ask a wait staff to come back and help you like throw down fries or something for 15 minutes, team work makes the dream work

  18. Looks like m&b or someone else similar
just do what other people have said, give them a wait time and try getting tickets out dropping starters and using the low end of the grill to start slowly cooking meats while your doing other stuff

Don’t rush it though, just January things I guess, everyone is cutting this month

  19. ODX_GhostRecon

At the end of shift, yeah. Then come in tomorrow.

  20. IllustriousQuail4130

I would just leave, in the middle of service without saying anything. they would never find me \s

  21. Alternative-Card1885

My chef would say: see? We didn’t even need the extra body today

  22. TouristPuzzled2169

Put your phone away ffs chef, you have tickets on.

  23. scott3845

Do it as fast as you can reasonably manage without going crazy and when they come to ask about ticket times, tell them to hire another pair of hands for service if they want food faster

  24. Work at your normal pace. If stuff goes out slow it’s on them.

  25. sloth08beach

I’ve dealt with way worse. Just breath. Take a second and breath. Drink some water, and continue on. You got this.

  26. jack_seven

If you want out I highly recommend you look for alternatives before quitting unless you need a break for mental health reasons then get out as soon as you can and ask for help (assuming you want/need it)
