I can always power wash the ceiling as it’s vinyl.

  1. I’d say no, especially if you’re a new bge owner. There’s a learning curve with the egg and chances are you’ll send some fireballs into the sky while figuring it all out.

Min is in Almost the same location… just be aware you might get a smoke stain on the ceiling…

I don’t think you would die. But I’d never do that 🤣

Smoker is going to smoke. Also, can easily get up to 800 degrees.

  5. Delicious-Treacle753

Would not recommend. Unless you planned to roll out to uncovered area during use

  6. If you like your house smelling like smoke, right next to the door is perfect! Move it just far enough that it can get ventilation and also that the smoke wont be by your house or walls

Mine is inside a smaller screened in patio – zero issues.. I use mine 2-4 days a week ..you’ll be fine.

Don’t do a clean burn there. Otherwise, a smoke stain will be your biggest issue.

  9. You want it as far away from your entrance and window as possible to prevent some from getting into the house. Unless you deflect the side it will collect in the white ceiling. As others have said, you should locate it away from anything you do not want to catch fire.

You will most definitely be denied coverage in the event of the house fire this decision will inevitably lead to….

  11. I’ve had mine inside my screen enclosure for years. Other than the ceiling being discolored from smoke inside that space there is no issue. Keeps it out of the elements and and lets me use it even during rain

That pretty white crawling will be destroyed.

The two folks below that said its ok have theirs under a screen, very different from a vinyl ceiling in terms of ventilation. The egg needs open sky above it or you’re going to melt/ruin your ceiling beyond the help of a powerwasher.

Another no vote here. I would certainly only use it outside while you introduce yourself to lighting and temp maintenance. Every new kamado owner ends up hitting 700F+ accidently during their learning process. That heat goes straight up. Look at the form factor of a kamado compared to a gas grill. The kamado has that funnel jet looking top to it. I have definitely shot straight flame out of the top before(use a grease tray).

If you do a practiced low-n-slow you *might* get away with having it there. But the room will still be pervasively smokey. You’ll never be able to do pizza mode. Normal roasting is likely to melt the vinyl.

There are 84 reasons to not place it there and one reason (convenience) to place it there.

I had mine under a covered porch before I built out an uncovered concrete pad to move it to. Having used it for a few years that way, I wouldn’t recommend it. Depending on weather conditions and what you are cooking/smoking, you will absolutely get a lot of smoke trapped underneath, even with those ceiling fans. Could you do it? Probably, but would not recommend it.

  16. I’d say no.

UNLESS… you pay for a knowledgeable professional to install a kitchen hood

  17. If those walls are screened and you get some breeze thru there… I absolutely would. But knowing you could possibly stain the ceiling. My large has sat on a covered porch with a much lower vinyl ceiling up against vinyl siding and have not had an issue. I just can’t imagine what type of event would have to happen to burn your house down.

  18. If you want the ceiling and fans to turn a nice yellowish brown over time, sure!

Such a weird spot, close to the door etc. What’s on the other side where you took the pic from?

I did this at my old house. Had one setup in basically the exact location. Only difference was I had a brick wall behind mine vs a screen and wooden support behind yours. I also had a vent hood above mine.

My initial thought is don’t do it unless you’re willing to put up some form of barrier between the egg and flammable parts. Additionally, even with my vent hood, the smoke still stayed in my porch while cooking. Your white paint will quickly get discolored.

No. That would be ill-advised. Fire risk and Carbon Monoxide risk.
