I was gifted these two 1989 Bordeaux’s, should I continue to hold them or open sooner rather than later?
As the title says, I was just gifted these two bottles, was curious if they're any good and what I should expect? Drink or hold?

Those are some excellent wines and the bottles appear to be in quite good condition. Fill levels seem relatively appropriate for that age. I’d get together with some friends and open them over a meal. Stand the bottles upright the day before the meal, and if you have decanters, a gentle decant off the solids at the bottom will do. Maybe have some bubbles to start but I would recommend not opening any younger red wines alongside them. Enjoy!!!!

Both are great bottles, and ready to drink now.

That ‘89 Lynch Bages should be god-level delicious. You must be prepared to decant it properly etc before serving. It will need to open up etc. others here can likely give better specifics.

That ‘89 Lynch Bages is my favorite wine of all time. Out shined the 1982s from the same night. Drink now.

Opened ‘89 Montrose in the last year. Can’t ask for better – open and thoroughly enjoy.

Big smile. Lovely gift! Enjoy them soon. They’re fine now!

Having had both of these wines multiple times within the last year, I’ll say that they’re both entering their prime drinking windows. You can drink or hold for another 20 years.

Had an ‘89 LB during the pandemic, sitting at the park with friends and pondering life. Pure nectar.

I just opened a 89 LB last week and needed an hour of decanting. It’s absolutely delicious

My birth year! I felt the Lynch Bages needed a bit of air, but drinkable now.

I’m of the opinion that a cork only lasts 30 years and you want to be thinking about replacing it and topping off if you plan to hold longer.

I drank my last 89 LB about a year ago (had 6). It’s not getting any better at this point. I’d drink it now.
