This is hilarious and so true. I just told my husband yesterday that I’m going to have to make less bread because we’re gaining too much weight lol

You can do both! Cardio cardio cardio. Can’t lift away those carbs.

I haven’t baked anything in 3-4 months for this specific reason… I miss it dearly, buuuut I’ve also lost 20lbs in that time… I’m still debating if it’s actually worth it though! 😭😭

I stopped baking as much bread as I used to and went from 193->176. I still have bread every once in a while but in more moderation. I used to start my mornings with two hearty slices of sourdough, a bunch of butter with hard boiled eggs on top. Then probably a few more slices later that day. Each slice is ~230 calories.

Also I was wondering why I was so tired in the morning, turns out it was a carb crash 😅

I told my doctor sort of half jokingly that my baking hobby was making it hard to lose weight. And she said, in total clinical seriousness, “well you know you can always bake stuff and give it to other people.” And I was like “uh….yea I’m aware of that.”

Better than store bought bread. I hit the left button

  8. wristoffender

i’ve baked about 25 boules in the past month and haven’t had one

Bread isn’t that high in calories. Just stop slabbring it with butter

Basically freeze everything I bake and I’m allowed to eat it on the weekends IF it’s along side like vegetables/something healthy

So no bread during the week.

But Saturday night, I’m having a spinach salad and like 4 home baked pretzels rolls.

I have been losing weight and eating homemade sourdough. That being said I still can’t eat baked goods that make me want to binge on it but I can do 2 slices of sourdough with some black bean spread and avocado and be satisfied. It’s really about figuring out what you can eat and enjoy without needing to eat more than a true serving of it.

  12. I thought personal attacks weren’t allowed in here 🤧😪

Can’t relate bc my swarm of kids eat them almost as fast as I can make them. Same with my jams.

Just switch to whole grain, freshly milled if you can. Much better for you and your waistline.

Not trying to be rude to other people here, but what kind of bread you all eat to gain weight? I lost weight eating bread I made at home because I could control what I put in there.

Exercise while the bread is proofing. Slice it up and put it in the freezer so you can eat it more slowly. Just be mindful and really enjoy it when you allow yourself to eat it.

Maybe, but maybe not. There’s also diabetics. I’ve always been a sandwich loving guy. Several years ago I was diagnosed with diabetes. The doctors here in the Philippines don’t really help by discussing diet or monitoring. In fact my doctor said that I should enjoy my retirement and waning years by eating what I liked, not mentioning that eating what I liked would reduce my waning years. I had to read up on what to do and what to eat. However, I just hate plated meals; I prefer a sandwich or a slice of pizza in my hand. So although my breads and pizza doughs are homemade and are use whole grain flours and grains themselves, I know the carbs are still doing a number on my blood sugar (although that remains unmonitored except quarterly when I get a HbA1c test along with FBS.

Bought a bread maker 1 month before my doctor put me on ozempic and insulin. In other news, my neighbors love the bread I make for them lol

Thankfully, i’m able to manage both. With counting calories and lots of exercise.

What if I told you that you could handle carbs better if you focus on gut health 😁

Eat a lot of probiotics, it’ll legit help you burn more “calories” (they’re relative)

Cycle probiotics, it creates more heat in the gut because bacterial competition = thermogenic output

Excluding rare disorders: carbs are fine, if you have a rainforest in your tummy.

I enjoy making various bread products and pastries. I don’t do it often as most of it is stored in the freezer and until the previous batch is gone, I hold off on making more. I seem to only be able to control my appetite by portion control with getting seconds means defrosting another whole portion.

It’s not even a question for me

A thinner figure won’t make me nearly as happy as bread does

  23. kkoyot__

Easy, just start doing cardio sports, like cycling and 2h training will burn you 2000 calories
