Did you know? Brigadeiro was created in the 1940s during a campaign to promote Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes for the presidency of Brazil by the residents of São Paulo. Since the canvasser parties were highly disputed, they began inviting friends to try the “Brigadeiro’s sweet treat.” Over time, the name “brigadeiro” became permanently associated with the dessert.
