Swedish Dill Chicken is a traditional Scandinavian dish known for decades for its mild, creamy, and tangy sauce infused with fresh dill. The dish typically features tender, simmered chicken pieces in a rich white sauce made with chicken stock, milk, and a hint of vinegar or lemon juice to balance the flavours. Fresh dill is the star ingredient, giving the dish its signature herbal aroma and taste. Often served with boiled potatoes or rice, this comforting meal is perfect for family dinners and has remained a beloved classic in Swedish home cooking for decades.

  1. Looks so flavorful & satisfying! I recently bought fresh dill for another recipe & was wondering what to do w/ the remainder. Thank you, Chef! 😊❤

  2. Rik, you are having a lot of fun this new year!! I am too, watching you make fabulous meals so easy that you can't even buy even if you're a billionaire!!

  3. Looks good mate. Do you know why Finnish and Swedish Navy ships have bar codes painted on them? Is so when they come into port they can Scandinavian 😊. Cheers mate

  4. Interesting recipie I've never been to Ikea here in melb Australia 🇦🇺 dont know if they serve food or even meatballs there i dont even know if ikea is still there I've never liked dill in anything but I'd give this recipie a go to see if it'll win me over with dill love the richness and creaminess of the sauce looks yum 😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤

  5. May I request a video utilizing Rhubarb?
It's one of my Bottom Shelf vegetables.
I would appreciate seeing what you could do with it.

  6. This looks sensational, Rik! I absolutely love onions and garlic, but my best and constant companion, my parrot, cannot eat either of them (or related plants), because they're toxic to our avian friends. I know that garlic isn't an issue here, but those onions are. I'm always looking for recipes he can eat safely, because he becomes highly insulted when I don't share, and he pitches a fit and slams a plate or two in protest! In this particular case, what would you suggest as a close but safe substitute for onions or other allium species? I was thinking celery or celery root.

Thanks for sharing ALL of your delicious recipes, too! 👍👏💕

  7. My grandmother used to make a similar dish but instead of heavy cream and vinegar she used “kajmak” which is an Eastern European version of clotted cream very slightly tangier. She would mix it in after taking the pan off the heat and it was also served it with mashed potatoes. It was my absolute favorite dish as a child and now it’s my girls’ favorite when my mom makes it for them! Looks so delicious!

  8. I started to enjoy dill favor. Just a thought. Chicken marinade in spent pickles 🥒 juice from jar. the brine for a little bit? Rest what you did. Thanks for the great video you make. Charles:)

  9. Recently been to Ikea and purchased their Swedish meatballs and the packet sauce. I must say i found them a tad on the dry side and the sauce was bland. Now this recipe opens up another world for me and will give it ago 😉

  10. This Rik look really delicious! Dill is definitely up there with my favourite herbs and I use is fairly often in my cooking. I think this dish deserves a place on my table for sure. Thank you Rik for another blinder!!!

  11. Once again I'm watching the video and thinking what ingredients I already have and how soon can I make this! Thanks again, Rik 😊

  12. Made this dish tonight for dinner and it turned out really nice! Will also try the meatball version as well. Thank you for doing these videos…gives me inspiration! 😋👌🏻

  14. Another wonderful recipe 😋 never had IKEA food although I know they do sell their meatballs recipe in their stores!!! Not a touch on yours Rik I should think!! Wonderful recipe 😋

  15. What do you do with all the extra sauce? Hate to think about the cholesterol…think I’d better give this one a miss!

  16. Looks amazing as always!
House is going on the market at the beginning of March and moving to Thailand on the closing of the sale.
    Wish us luck!

  17. Looking up dillkyckling, I found it to be cooked in water with dill and the sauce made with the stock. Just like my mother cooked breast of veal. This is far too rich.

  18. Cooked it today had to replace the mustard for English also chucked in a bit of celery and parsley fried off for colour in the pan then transfered over to slow cooker to finish off and put some cubed potatoes in bottom . Wow wow !!! This is a true winner thank you so much you are the best best chef . 😊 👍

  19. I wanted to let you know that I made this yesterday with skinless chicken thighs and it was a big hit with everyone. Also the sauce is lovely without, and with the dill

  20. just serving this up right now. I used a Knorr stockpot, big mistake as it overpowered the sauce but still good.
    lesson learned.
