Don’t count your seeds out!

Soaked my seeds in tea overnight on 12/31/24. Rinsed and put on a modified paper towel method on 1/1/25. I always try to get at least 3 or 4 plants growing to adulthood of each type. Hopefully then I’ll get what I planted and not too many phenotypes or sterile plants. Culling is always an option, but so hard to do. I was not satisfied with just getting 3 germinations of #22 the Warthog pepper. The seeds were starting to look bad so I put the rest of them in dirt and hoped for the best. Still nothing coming up so sifted through the dirt and found 4 very pale gray ugly seeds. As an experiment I rinsed them off and soaked them in a 50/50 solution of water and 3% hydrogen proxied for a half an hour. Rinsed and tried to germinate them again on the paper towel. The very next day to my surprise all 4 seeds did germinate! Put them back into the dirt and now I’ll have 7 Warthog pepper plants to grow this year and that makes me very happy as long as I can find more space outside. Most of this year seeds were from Texas Hot Peppers. The Matthew Arthur seeds were sent from him or traded with Jez A. who posts on this site. She sent me more seeds than I could handle this year. The chocolate Reaper seeds were from BeeBe seed Co. Now today when taking some pictures for this post I noticed 3 more #22 Warthog sprots that I wasn’t counting on them coming up? I’ll let them grow a bit but I’m already over my limit of projected space inside and out.

I sometimes take my extra seeds and keep growing them out then when they’re strong enough I transplant in cheep sandwich or ziplock bags and put them on a table roadside for free. I write a sign about the plants . Most don’t last but a couple of hours roadside.

  3. What’s the meaning of the numbers after the names in the first pic?
