I’ve almost gone through the whole bottle of The Rapture, and every time I taste it, it’s even more disappointing than the last time. Here’s my two main complaints.
The heat is underwhelming. Like I’m not sure how torchbearer made a sauce with the first four ingredients being two types of scorpion peppers, reapers, and ghost peppers, and achieved a completely mediocre level of heat. Judging from the ingredients, I assumed it would rank up there with Ashes 2 Ashes and Extreme Regret, but it’s not even close to the same ballpark.
It tastes like straight-up oranges. The overwhelming flavor in this sauce is mandarin oranges. Im usually using hot sauces on burgers, sandwiches, eggs, and Mexican food. Orange is just not a flavor I want on my hot-sauces foods. Maybe it would be good on Chicken… IDK.
But yeah, disappointing sauce all around.

I’m a fan of Torchbearer Sauces Garlic Reaper Sauce.
I finished the whole bottle. I’m going to buy Torchbearer Sauces Reaper Evil Sauce next.
Maybe a bad batch? I feel with the more natural, organic sauces that sometimes a bottle here or there doesn’t have the same flavor profile. I’m just suggesting that because when I had it, the heat was pretty toasty and it wasn’t overwhelming orange flavor. But everybody has different heat tolerances and taste buds, too!
So yesterday it wasn’t hot but was tasty and now it is overall disappointing.
Your words from the hot sauce subreddit
“I think that rapture 2.0 is really tasty, but I’ve used half a bottle in a day because it just doesn’t really pack a good punch.”
So is it tasty or not?
Tastes good af to me. I deffo recommend it.
“Orange is just not a flavor I want on my hot-sauces foods.”
Read a review or flavor profile on the sauces you’re buying?
I like torchbearer, but have had some slightly mixed impressions.
I got a bottle of their sultry sauce at one point. While its advertised as lower heat, it had pretty much none and tasted like watered down oranges. I dont know if I got a bad batch, but I thought it was really bad, especially for a sauce they call their “flagship”.
The first bottle of garlic reaper I had tasted good. But it was just so spicy that I really couldnt use it on anything.
Every other sauce of theirs I have tried has been very good, even if not to my personal tastes. Garlic habanero is basically garlic reaper, but with tolerable heat. Sweet onion habanero is great. Zombie apocalypse is a great tasting very hot sauce, and son of zombie is a great sweeter and less hot version. Overall I really like them, despite that there have been a couple misses.
Just finished my bottle of this, it was pretty hot. And I eat some pretty hot food. Not quite as hot as their Garlic Reaper, but had quite good heat/flavour.
Mine did not taste like oranges lol
Oranges?!? 🤨
I strongly disagree I think it’s amazing. Second only to Reaper Evil on the TB line up.
I do agree with the lack of heat. Although I love the citrus flavor. So I enjoy it!
