Picked up from pizz'amici today and thought it was solid. It lived up to everything people said about it— super thin and cracker like crust, well done bake and high quality toppings. Maybe I'm just not a huge tavern pizza guy but I wouldn't take this over a legit NY pizza spot like Jimmy's or Zaza's. Even a place with a thicker tavern crust (like Salerno's next door) feels a bit more satisfying but if a cracker crust is your thing you'll probably like this a lot. Still glad I tried it. A few notes:

  1. The dining room is a really cool space. It's cozy and reminds me of eating at lucali's in Brooklyn.
Definitely a yuppie crowd and a lot of couples on dates.
  2. The pickup time for a pizza placed right when they opened was 1.5 hours. Person at the front was really nice.
  3. Sausage and peppers was just okay. It tasted good but definitely something you could throw together at home for $3 with ingredients from jewel.

Overall wife and I were glad we tried it. Pumped to see that stretch of Grand get busier too

If we could phase out Pizza Hut and make this the new “bottom tier” za, we’d be closer to utopia, in my humble opinion.

  2. Been here once and have gotten take out twice. Dining in I was actually more impressed with the other things I got. The meatballs were so good and they do a proper Cesar equipped with chovies. In general I’m actually not a fan of the pizza – the sauce and crust is good but I’m not a fan of the over zealous toppings. It takes away from the cheese and makes it overwhelming. If I come in the future I’d probably just order a cheese pizza.

I feel you, I was disappointed going to akahoshi recently, it was excellent ramen as described. However, I prefer pho to ramen and I was disappointed it wasn’t that. I also got the edamame and was shocked it was so similar to the edamame that they sell at the store.

  4. The hype here is out of control but I think you’re underrating the quality of the sausage and peppers.

  5. Picked up a few weeks ago and thought the pizza and meatballs were great, but the real star was the Focaccia. Holy shit, it was good. And I’m not even a bread guy.

It looks like a pretty good frozen pizza that came out of the oven at least a half hour ago.
