After returning my traeger, I've decided to go with the Recteq Flagship 1100 and smokebox. Right now the flagship is about 10% off at $1170 (normal $1300). I was also planning on getting the smokebox as well, which is about $225 for a total of about $1400 before tax.
Before I pull the trigger, I was wondering if the smokebox bundle ($1675) is worth it and wanted some advice/thoughts from y'all. Here's the stuff in the bundle and its site-marked price:
- Custom fit cover for the Flagship 1100 ($100 value)
- Smokebox ($225 value)
- a box of Nitrile Gloves, ($14 value)
- Rub & Sauce Bundle ($80 value?)
- Front Folding Shelf ($100 value)
- 2 x 40 pound bags of Ultimate Blend Pellets ($64 value)
- 1 x 18-20 pound bag of Oak Blend pellets ($16 value)
- 1 x 18-20 pound bag of Texas Blend pellets ($16 value)
- 1 x 18-20 pound bag of Mesquite Pellets ($16 value)
I know I'll need a grill cover but was thinking I could get a decent one for cheap on amazon, though unsure If I can find to fit the smokebox attachment. All in all, the bundle items (excluding smokebox and grill) are roughly $300 so its really only like a $20-30 markdown from if I were to buy them separately? I'm fine with using my kirklands pellets and don't really need all those rubs and sauces.

I purchased this about two months ago. If I had to do it all over again I’d just get the grill, and then the front folding shelf and cover as add-ons.
Shelf: Some people here make their own and are crafty. I’m not that guy. Here’s my $100, give me a shelf that fits.
Cover: I like the custom fit. Feel free to find a generic one. There are no wrong answers if you’re happy.
I’m not crazy about their sauces. The only way to find out is to buy them. Not sure what this sub’s overall opinion is on the sauces, but I wasn’t impressed.
The rubs are good, but I think it’s easier to pick up some Meat Church at Lowe’s or probably your local super market.
The pellets… first, and perhaps most important, I’m a newbie. Maybe the pellets are great? I can’t tell a damn difference between any of them, so the Pit Boss pellets at Lowe’s for half the price of the Recteq Ultimate Blend do just fine for me.
I can’t speak to the smokebox… I have no use for it and haven’t tried it.
Hope that helps.
