I am a self taught (as an adult, I didn't have any understanding of preparing food until I taught myself) and usually use a rice cooker. I decided to use a cookbook to make yellow rice (photo 2 and 3 are from the book) and followed the recipe (except I used 1/4 c oil instead of 1/2c). When I lifted the lid to put the peas in, there was clearly still too much liquid, but it was already overcooked. I had the heat on low so that it wouldnt bubble over, so perhaps the heat needs to be a little higher throughout the cooking process?
Please help prevent me from making another bowl of gelatinous mush.
