my attempt at a chocolate cake with a strawberry layer and strawberry cream cheese frosting on top. think i used too much water for my strawberry reduction in making the frosting. here’s hoping it thickens in the fridge overnight and i can continue? maybe i should go with it and make drips all along the sides.

Scrape the excess off. Unless you have a good amount of butter in the frosting or another “setting” ingredient like gelatin or cornflour etc, I doubt it will set.
Cream cheese doesn’t set easy. And your strawberry reduction sounds like a coulis.
My suggestion: make regular frosting. Whip up cream cheese and pipe it as decorations. And garnish with the strawberry reduction or fresh strawberries.
That way you have solid frosting. You get your cream cheese flavor. Strawberry incorporated. Nice decoration.
I’d eat and enjoy it
No offense– but that statement is true both before and after you posted that pic.
Was your cake hot when you frosted it?
