I have always wanted to dine at Joel Robuchon and finally had the chance to do that last night. Reading experiences from its other branches, my expectations going in were very high. I was dining solo, pre ordered the degustation menu when i reserved. I was most looking forward to the caviar, veal, frog leg and the mashed potatoes.
Restaurant is located in a large 2 storey building, sharing its premises with other Joel Robuchon establishments. Walking into the dining room, the atmosphere felt warm and tranquil. Staff were positioned everywhere, observing all the tables making trying to make sure the diners needs were attended to asap. There was carts of food being wheeled around for diners to select; 1 for bread for most the meal, 1 for cheese before the dessert course and finally 2 dessert carts to go with the dessert course. Needless to say I left walking around quite full, possibly to the multiple rounds of bread I ordered.
The meal was amazing, highlights were:
– caviar
– lobster in coral sauce
– veal and mashed potatoes (had seconds)
Overall, the degustation menu with a glass of champagne, wine, some tea and sparkling water I had around ¥80,000 incl service fee & tax. So cost wise its definitely up there, there were cheaper options but i wanted the full experience on this trip. Food wise I was definitely happy to pay the cost, drinks were definitely more expensive than I had realized but I had just asked for recommended pairings without checking price.
This is at the start of my trip, got heaps more of fine dining planned and will be uploading reviews/photos.

If I had a last meal, this would be it
How did you manage to book a solo reservation?
What’s the clientele like? A lot of ex pats or do Japanese people enjoy rich French cuisine? Genuinely curious
One of my favorite 3 stars!
