The cream wouldn't stiffen, I had been beating it for more then ten minutes already when I decided to use it in its runny state. Now I am waiting for the Armageddon of cake collapse. Since then multiple friends recommended I use Sahnesteif next time. 😅

If it tastes good that’s all that matters 🙂

Break it up into a bowl and add whipped cream to the top and BAM. You got yourself a trifle.

Schlagsahne mit Sahnesteif steif schlagen. Now say that five times fast.

Honestly, it looks delicious. I understand that it’s not picture perfect, but I’d dive right in!

Hey, don’t feel bad, you’ll get better overtime with baking! I once attempted to make peanut cookies and it was disastrous, they were like hockey pucks😅😂

I’m sure your cake tastes wonderful! Keep going and practicing, baking is a great hobby and skill.

i know it wasn’t what you wanted or expected but give your self some credits here, you deserve that, it wasn’t a cooking disaster, it was a cooking mistake. and to be honest, its even looking real good

I laugh because this reminds me of the good old days when I sucked so bad this would’ve been a good attempt.

But boy this is up there hahaha.

Good thing is, it looks like it would taste spectacular

Good job Hagrid, you always know it’s not how it looks it’s how it tastes.

I love when people share these types of bakes too!! We all have ones that don’t go as planned 😅 but we learn and still get to eat it!!

Good try. I’m sure it still tasted delicious!
From the thumbnail it looked like some sort of garlic bread/meringue fusion. Can you imagine?

What were you trying to make that lemon cake into…

Not sure where you live, but beaters can be super affordable. I have one that was $5 at target. Its a mini ones but works great for whipping. I have a full sized beater set that was $10 at walmart and its great too. Beaters are super simple like toasters, they should last you a decade at least. My grandmother is still using an old brown handheld beater from the 70s. Thing weighs a ton!

Would be right at home at r/nailedit

Loving some of these suggestions for ways to salvage it, at least aesthetically!

This looks a cake from a Disney cartoon where someone tried their very hardest to make a beautiful cake, I love her

To clarify: you made a lemon cake. It’s a cake, I can see that, and unless you made some really wild choices, I’m guessing it is actually lemon.

Stacking a layered cake just takes some knowledge and practice.

rad horse posters in the background, those were my elementary school decor of choice

Also yes, use Sahnesteif, also pop the cream into the freezer for like 15-20 minutes prior to making the filling, along with the Rührstäbe/whisks and maybe put the bowl in the fridge to chill it.

  18. I mean it’s lemon…life gave you lemons apparently. You made a ummmm cake I think 🤷🏻‍♀️

Just kidding. I bet it’s tasty. I love lemon everything. I would totally eat a slice!

  19. In my experience, I’m the only one who cares if my baking looks bad, people only care if it tastes bad, and even then they’re still far more forgiving than I am.

i just gotta say, i love the effort, tbh i’d try it. i’m sure you’ll make it again & it’ll come out great
