I was at Walmart, just shopping, when I spotted it…. the beast…a Wagyu ribeye with marbling that looked like it belonged in a fancy steakhouse on the other side of the world. I’ve had Waly-World “wagyu” before and their USDA Prime, and it’s been pretty decent, nothing to brag about…. but this one, as you can see, is different. Now apparently it hails from Australia, but to me, it looks close to the ONE TIME I got to try real A5 from Japan. Maybe their genetics and feed are getting better down unda?

Anyways, I couldn’t believe it…this much marbling for under $20 at Walmart? Felt like a jackpot. I plan to cook it up this weekend with my new cast iron pan…it was on clearance, also at Walmart but that’s for another story

Moral of THIS story though, is this: always check the meat section, you might just strike gold…even at Walmart.

P.s. have you ever found a meat deal like this? Share it with me!

Ok, so I’ve never eaten a steak like this but…at what point does it stop being a steak and it is just steak flavored fat? Not saying it isn’t delicious because IDK.

Has anyone ever seen these cattle walk or move under their own power? How could they with so little muscle?

Walmart even has solid choice steaks where I am at. People shouldn’t knock it until they see with their own eyes. The Walmart I regular isn’t a supercenter, it’s got about 8 feet of fresh meats, so zero selection, just crappy choice and nicer choice “angus” labeled strips and ribeyes, but what they have is solid for the price esp if I’m not planning on stopping at a nicer store and just want a weeknight steak.

Very good. Especially for price. But also pretty rich. I split a ribeye with my girl with sides and I’m a whole lb ribeye guy myself. Cooked it straight from the fridge. Hard sear on cast iron and it came out great. Preferred medium. No oil on pan other than the “seasoning coat” that should already be there. It’ll render like crazy.

I wouldn’t call buying steak at Walmart winning the lottery, ever.

Nah that looks really bad and you shouldn’t eat that. Send it to me instead for proper destruction

A steak with 0 and I mean 0 marbling that size at Publix is $27.

Probably an unpopular opinion. But I’m not a fan of wagyu. My gf bought me a snake river farms wagyu tomahawk for my birthday one year. I was meh about it. I’d rather just have prime 45 day dry aged ribeye.

That looks disgusting, i would’ve cut all the fat off and been so mad doing so. I can’t chew the fat without dry heaving. How could anyone enjoy something like this? There’s enough ‘meat’ for a bite maybe 2.

Walmart has the worst steak…I won’t buy steak from there.
