I eat at and review Traif in Williamsburg, Brooklyn of New York City. The restaurant comes from Chef Jason Marcus. Traif offers a 10-course tasting menu for $58, which may be one of the most affordable and best fine dining deals in NYC.

  1. Looks amazing. Heading to NYC in February and I’m going to add this to the list! Thanks for the great review!

  2. WOW! I've had tasting menus several times that amount that was not nearly as varied, rich, filling or delicious. A Chinese restaurant serves prawns like these and I eat them shell and all . (Dooky Chase's in New Orleans has – or had – a meal where the shells almost merged with the meat- oh man.) That dessert of coffee, donuts, rum and bacon…I wanted to cheer. Good luck in Japan. We were amazed at the quality of food in the little kiosks found everywhere.

  3. Great job , have to try it years ago about 15 my friend Vivian Googled tasting menu under a 100 and contra and cosme came up probably a lot more now . Hope you can get into jiro dreams of sushi place in Japan

  4. Scallop, prawn, hen, pork, lamb, beef, venison… Bacon donut?!? An absolute steal! I might actually go to Brooklyn for this!

  5. James, I’m curious. Who were the servers? Where are they from? Who prepared the food? What are their professional backgrounds? Are they New Yorkers? Interested in the human interest aspect of the restaurant.

  6. I am sure you are proud but not surprised at the good works your Paris Hilton is doing for people and animals affected by the wildfires in California. I am looking forward to your Japan videos. Traveling solo to Japan would be very far out of my comfort zone!

  7. Another suggestion for Japan trip (and, this one may save you some $$) You might go for a meal at a McDonald’s. I was told that Japan’s McDonald’s are different and have to be better to cater to the general higher food standards of Japanese people. I didn’t get around to McDonald’s when I was there.

  8. My food envy is deep today for you James! My small town here in Texas doesn't have any thing like that! Maybe Houston might! Lol I'm not willing to risk my life tho! Can't wait to see what Japan has in store for you! (Us!) 😎🤌

  9. Great video, James. As one who eats Kosher, i'll have to pass on that experience but i enjoyed watching you savor Traif delicacies . I've visited Japan many times and look forward to your restaurant reviews from there. You'll be mighty impressed by Tokyo's Tsukiji food market. That alone, is worth the airfare for a 14 hours non stop flight from NYC. Bon Voyage.

  10. chef is counting on peeps to pair the wine to stay in business and build a following. touting it otherwise does him no favors. cheep clownshow move james

  11. between all those ingredients….and the quality….shocking that you got that much for that little. really makes you think

  12. So you are going to Japan next month? (I'll be traveling to Japan next month too…) Enjoy the fresh fish and sushi! If you don't have any allergies, I recommend a crab course. Another recommendation is bread. There is an unbelievable variety of bakeries. French, German, Japanese, etc.

  13. These types of restaurants provide far better value than the top end does, coming from someone who has tried all levels multiple times. Michelin is just tedious, always the same in different variations

  14. DUDE.. for crying out loud can you please learn to correctly hold the flatware???
that's a knife and a fork.. I'm at a loss as to why your posting "food" videos
and you have no idea how to hold a knife and a fork to eat..

  15. These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.

And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you.

They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.

Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

    Leviticus 11: 9-12
