ordered one of the spiciest things on the menu, and asked to make it extra spicy. it was SO good. genuinely 10/10 taste wise. however it still wasn't spicy enough for me lmao next time i go there i'll specifically ask to make it so spicy it make me reconsider all of my life choices.

Basil chicken (pad krapow gai) and papaya salad (som tum) are ones that, if you ask for Thai hot, ought to be down your alley in spice. Basil chicken is probably my favorite food flavor-wise too

Many Thai places will do 1-5 stars for heat. But many of them are also perfectly happy to go above that once they get to know you. I order a 10 star at my local Thai place and it’s perfect!

The world has turned for you, brother. Enjoy all the Thai.

Pro tip: these places are sick of fighting about refunds with fuckheads who can’t handle the heat. Order the dish. Pay cash with a nice tip included ($12 dollar dish, give them a $20 bill). Tell them no receipt as you’ll not be attempting a refund. Tell them “make it Thai spicy” and at the start greet them with “Sawasdee Kha” (avatar makes me think you’re female but “Sawasdee Khrap” if you’re male) which is a “aloha” type greeting for Thai.

Source: me. My stepdad lived and worked in Thailand for almost a decade and I got to spend time over there. Mom is obsessed with the food and a spice head as well and throws some Thai around and asks for “Thai spicy” and is rarely disappointed.
