Been having this problem off and on. When i open my lid all the way up, it can get where it won’t shut all the way, leaving a 1-2” gap. I figure it’s something in the hinge but don’t know what to adjust

Assuming your hardware is all tight and there’s no movement when you open and close the lid, the answer is that you need to adjust the bands. Frankly, I’d scrap those and get the new style hinges.

A ONE TO TWO INCH GAP!?!?

Your bottom band looks way too low in the back but a 1-2” gap sounds insane. There are a bunch of videos on YT on hinge alignment. You have the old hinge so don’t watch anything with the new hinge.

My alignment isn’t perfect but it isn’t horrible. It still annoys the hell out of me that it isn’t 100%, because I’ve worked on the alignment several times.

  3. Yeah the next upgrade that I am going to do to my egg is to get the new hinges on it for this spring. The old hinges are all problems.

So you’re saying this is an intermittent problem. I would try to lube the bolts on the outside of hinge assembly in the back. I had an issue similar with my XL and this fixed it with a little bit of WD-40.

Go buy the updated band setup. Well worth it. Won’t have to deal with this issue as often.
