Didn’t homemake the pasta, just the sauce. My spouse (I feel) can be very “selective”. I used to cook for myself all the time but now my spouse does most of the cooking. So I was happy to be able to cook and have her genuinely compliment me, but it took so long to make. Lol

  1. Bro once you cut it, it just looks like a decent lasagna. It looks like it’d taste great.

  2. Doesn’t look too bad. Lasagna can be sloppy if you don’t let it rest out of the oven before cutting.

  3. IMO it’s hard to make “pretty” lasagna. This, however, looks DELICIOUS.

Edi tot add that I would go so far as to say it’s in the wrong subreddit.

How the fuck did you spend 50$ and 5 hours? Jesus dude…

Edit: I’m sorry for being a weiner it’s just that lasagna shouldn’t cost more than 20$ max and it takes an hour and a half to make max…

    Are you just exaggerating?

  5. We’ve all had dishes that fall flat visually, but taste pretty good. That being said, love how rich that red tomato looks in this. Looks v yummy to me OP. Lots of texture and nice cheese!! Looks like a banger to me.

As long as the spouse likes it, that’s all that matters

It’s not about how the lasagna looks, it’s about the ingredients … and also not burning it.

  7. Chewsdayiddinit

I’d eat the shit out of it, especially with a homemade sauce.

  8. withbellson

I’m sure that tastes great. Question. Did you peel apart string cheese to do the top?

  9. Just curious what added up to $50? Is ricotta cheese like really expensive?

  10. GrfikDzn_IsMyPashun

Kudos to you for making homemade. I tried that once and the fennel seed it called for and the exorbitant amount of time it spent to prep traumatized me enough never to do it again so this definitely deserves recognition.

  11. Disastrous_Soup_7137

It looks delicious… but why did you slice it from the middle?!

  12. RecordingGreen7750

Lasagna never looks pretty, don’t worry about it

However if you let it rest once out of the oven you can sometimes get a more set piece that will look more pleasant. It doesn’t seem like the case here but if it’s very wet try cooking the mince and veggies for longer and get the moisture out.

5hrs is long time, I mean yeah the sauce will definitely be better with a longer cook time and I’m hoping that’s why it took 5hrs

It looks good though for sure!

  13. I would destroy that faster than the Chiefs destroyed the Bills Super Bowl Hopes

  14. TheRimmerodJobs

Need to spread more cheese over the top so it is uniform and brown it a bit. Will look better but your husband is probably right that it tastes great and that is all that matters

  15. Syrupgang300

Of course she thinks it’s good, she’s your spouse.

  16. BigAssStonks

I’d eat the shit out of that op. Lasagna is lasagna lol

  17. frumioustribble

That a ‘3’ took home from the bar, but is a ‘10’ in the bedroom

  18. buttfartsmagee

I think it looks very good. if you did the cheese on top nicer it would have looked perfect but it doesn’t matter how it looks it’s all about the taste and it seems like you nailed it.

  19. DGenerAsianX

This looks tasty. Lasagna doesn’t have to look pretty to be good.

  20. YourLocalPotDealer

Look on the bright side it’s hard to make lasagna from scratch but it’s delicious , be proud of what you’ve done. I’ll have a slice in the mail please

  21. leftykills436

Pasta doesn’t have to look good to taste good

  22. Former-Discount4279

The sauce is the best part of making it at home, it’s probably delicious.

  23. I’ve learned the prettier the food, does not always equal to being tasty

  24. sohcordohc

Just bc it looks like crap doesn’t mean anything! It’s all how it tastes and yours must’ve been good👍🏽

  25. eggybasket

OP, this looks wonderful and delicious. Downvoted (with my compliments).

  26. cosmicwonder_gem

I was wondering why it took 5 hours to make lasgana then I clicked on the post and saw you made your own sauce. 5 hours sounds about right, one of my aunts make her own sauce also and the lasgana always turns out perfect .

personally I don’t have the patience to wait that long, lasgana for me takes an hour or less

  27. model3113

What I’ve learned from my experience as an amateur cook and a professional Italian is that it needs to set over night and then get baked again. I also never boil the sheets since there’s so much moisture being rendered out of the other ingredients.

It looks great op it does not deserve to be in this thread. I declare that your food is not shitty. 👩🏽‍⚖️
