Went to watch a game Saturday night at the new Five Four Restaurant & Drafthouse in Cedar Park. It’s near the corner of New Hope Road & 183A, just down the road from the H-E-B Center. This is their first weekend open.

I’ve been to the 54th Street restaurant in San Marcos once, the Five Four locations are the same ownership. Bartender said it’s pretty much the same food and drink options with a more activity focused design. They’ve got pickleball courts and corn hole outside, booths to play virtual golf, baseball, soccer, etc inside.

It was packed at 7pm, and by 9pm most folks had cleared out. Life in the suburbs.

The menu is gigantic with lots of small print, not my favorite style but they are casting a wide net with their offerings. Pictures included if you care to break out the magnifying glass.

I had their top shelf margarita ($12) and a bowl of chicken tortilla soup ($7). Marg was delicious, soup was pretty standard, could use more heat. There’s lots of beers on tap. I like it as a game watching spot, not sure I would go out of my way for a full dinner there.

I don’t live in Cedar Park but it always amazes me how every Friday or Saturday night I’m there it seems like every restaurant is packed to the gills during prime time. Maybe this place helps relieve the bottle neck around there, it seems to be a hot spot where people want places to go.

They finally opened. I have season tickets to the Texas Stars and drive by the Five Four on the way to every game. The building looked complete for the past couple of months so been wondering when they would open.

I go to one in San Antonio with my family every now and then. Never a complaint. That gringo dip slaps.

Reminds me of TGI Fridays. Nothing shocking on the menu and everyone should be able to find something that they like.

Went there for the first time recently. Well priced and decent enough drinks and food. Recommend it if you are in the area

Ate lunch there earlier this week and was pretty impressed with the space. Closest local comparison ambience, layout and vibe wise is BJ’s but I’d say 54 is better in nearly every way. Much better beer selection (I got a Founders Breakfast Stout the other day, which I’m always glad to see), food was solid (got calamari & half French dip sandwich and baked potato soup).https://i.imgur.com/iN3X6v8.jpeg

It seems like a bjs brew house rip off to me.

I went there last night for the first time.

The inside is pretty nice. Like other said, lots of activities. Also a cool fire pit inside. The server said they are 99% scratch made. Menu is very broad.

I got an old fashion and a couple beers. Drinks were good. We got the gringo dip (basically queso and waffle fries) pretty good. Love the seasoning on the fries (think Arby’s curly fries taste)

My buddy got the smash burger. A little overcooked but he said it was good.

I go the chicken wrap. I liked it. Seasoning was good. The onion rings need work. Didn’t care for them too much. The also need a dip for them.

There is a reason every restaurant is packed every Friday and Saturday night. A shit ton of people live in the area.

    Another Cheesecake Factory/BJs brewhouse/Yardhouse.

It’s basically chilis/cheddars, but with a wider appeal and more upscaley vibe.

I like these restaurants. I’ll never go there of my own volition, but I’ll end up there once a year or so and they’re fine.

  10. I’ve eaten at the south Austin one a few times and like it decently. Just a good barfood casual place with good prices and a solid tap list. I really like the grilled chicken avocado sandwich

Woof. Both menus are just too damn big

Also, they lost me on the second item I read from the menu – Cajun Chicken Philly?

As someone who was raised outside of Philadelphia and then moved to New Orleans at 18 and lived there for 15 years I think it’s hilarious. What an abomination of both cultures 🫣

Just passed it for the first time today. Was overflowing with people. Thanks for the info!

Looks exactly the same from the pictures as 54th street in Pflugerville? Anyways, yeah reverse happy hour for the suburbs is where it’s at!

  14. This is too american. ITS ALL THE THINGS SO YOU KNOW ITS GOOD!!!!!!

  15. What on earth is that horrendous menu?! Whoever designed that needs to be placed in another role b/c menu design is not their expertise.

I spoke to an employee over the weekend. Said that the wait times had been 75 to 80 mins at points. Best to use the online wait list to get in line and not be surprised.

Gotta say that’s probably the worst menu layout I’ve ever seen.

And with volume of items. I suspect the food is inferior quality unless they have half of a brigade atleast.
No way a km, 3 -5 line cooks , 2 preps, and two dishies are putting all that out consistently 7 days a week.

Unless they are all too tier and motivated. Then probably doable.

  18. The amount of astroturfing for the restaurant on various Cedar Park FB groups is astounding.

  19. You definitely could have skipped the close up of the… soup.

  20. Went yesterday, meh. They’re pouring IPAs in tulip glasses, not pints. When I asked the bartender about it, he said the “high ABV” are in 13oz. glasses, due to company policy. I pointed out that Jellyfish has an ABV of 6.5%, and my original order, Lone Pint’s Yellow Rose, which they were out of, has an ABV of 6.8%, neither of which would be considered “high ABV”. He repeated that it was “corporate policy”. What it really is, is selling less ounces, but at a higher price, and acting like it has something to do with alcohol content. They are on a par with Brass Tap – Leander, that advertises beer they don’t have in stock.

    Hard pass.
