Tasted right out of the bottle, decanted for 4 hrs, and the next day after being corked and stored under blanket co2 in the fridge.
Pours a deep purple in the glass. Intense, developing aromas of olive tapenade, lavendar, sweaty cured meats, figs (jam, dried, stewed), blackberries (stewed, jam), black cherry (cooked, fresh, preserved), scorched dark fruits, ripe lamb’s leather funk, creosote, brandy (alcohol ++), oak, vanilla, heavy and syrupy in the nose with earthier finish. In the mouth, the wine is dry, full bodied, med acid, med +/high tannin, high (++) alcohol presence, intense in the mouth with a long finish. Overall, very good. Drink now with a long decant, or drink over the next 10ish or so years.
Personally, I do not like this wine. First and probably last SQN… Too much booze, and you feel every bit of it- it’s everywhere in the wine and dominates (seems keeping within a certain winemaking style). Port-like in some flavors, aromas, and texture, proving that more isn’t always better. The fruit seemed too ripe and lacking in acid, using tannin and extraction to make up for the lacking acidity (or just covered up) resulting in a “clunky” wine. Reminicent of Nicora, Sans Liege, Herman Story and other ripe, rich producers. A wine made in the winery, not in the vineyard, so to speak. Just not my style. Also, low QPR, you can do better domestically and internationally for so much less in cost. I mean, Arkenstone’s current release syrah at $175 looks like a steal here and a bottle of Chave Hermitage for just a hair more.

Had a Shea (OR) PN from them years ago. Really struck me was the insane ripeness. Just too much of everything. I paid wholesale and I felt I was robbed

I can’t for the life of me understand why people like this, the extraction and alcohol is so overwhelming, even older ones.
And that’s not even considering the price point.

Welcome to the yuck yuck
If you have more bottles bring it to a big group tasting and notice how at the end of the night there is still a lot of SQN left when most other bottles are empty. Never fails

Sorry to hear you didn’t like it! I personally love their wines, had three different bottlings and it’s incredibly enjoyable to me. I personally did not find the alcohol overwhelming.

Anti-Flavor Wine Elite incoming
Is that a pic of wildfires on their label? Why?
