I have a little charcoal grill but no charcoal and I think it'd be nice to surprise my gf with grilled chicken when she gets off work tonight.

No, this is likely treated lumber. Even old, I wouldn’t risk it.

Nope! Don’t do it, too many chemicals inside the wood.

Nooo. Find some downed fruit wood. Apple trees around your area that need trimming make great smoke wood.

I mean, you can do it at least once. Might be your last meal though.

Your local grocery store should have bags of charcoal readily available.

It’ll make a good bonfire. But don’t eat off it.

You’ll release all the farts from that bench into your food. Don’t do it.

Seriously, it was likely treated lumber and seems to still have a coating of something in certain areas. Don’t cook with it.

  9. Definitely not. Aside from the possibility of being treated the timber is likely pine or pine family which is also not good for cooking over due to the resins in pine which will likely add a horrible bitterness to the meat
