  1. Our School used a Raspberry sauce but I don't know if it had a name? but I'm also diabetic John so this will be for afters for today's Sunday roast. Thanks Mate!

  2. My mum, who was from Easington Colliery, used to make her rice pudding in the oven. It was always the best. ❤ Thank you from Alberta, Canada.

  3. Love your recipes John but this one didn't work for me after 1 hour 30mins it was still runny milk. I think it could be my fault for using jasmine rice 😂

  4. Thank you for the sugar free option, a breath of fresh air.

Please produce many more sugars free options 11 out of 10.

  5. This is awesome. I've been flirting with diabetes for a short while and I love rice pudding. This will be a great recipe for me. I love your channel.

  6. Nice one John, loving your classic recipes.
Tbh, im not sure i agree with not washing the rice, if you've seen how rices and grains are stored, you'd think twice about it too, plus you're only going to lose a very small amout of starch!
Personally i make pan rice pudding often at home (Greek style with cinnamon sticks and a few pods of cardamom in the milk, then loads of ground cinnamon on top when its still hot), and it always turns out perfect. 👌☺️

  7. Seriously, what is wrong with some people. Get a life. Life's too short. Thanks John, guess there's no pleasing some.

  8. Ho John, loved your videos for a long time, thanks for including a "sugarr free " version of the great desert I am diabetic also and it is nice to be able to have a sweet treat once in a while

  9. LOVE rice pudding! Will try this recipe as soon as I buy the rice. I love basmati rice and the skin looks delicisou so I'll likely get that and make it in the over. Thank you. The best rice pudding i had was at a seafood, American restuarant here across the pond. The restuarant was run by a Greek man who made rice pudding using his family's 100 year old recipe. Not sure what seasonings he used, but it was spectacular.

  10. I really love that you added how to do it with plain sugar because I don't have good reactions (headaches and bad gastro issues) with some alternate sweeteners (my system does noooot like stevia).

  11. Hi, John. Thanks for another great video. I have pre diabetes and am avoiding sugar, so this is much appreciated. By the way, did you know that there's a similar Indian dish made with pearl barley, which has a lower glycemic index than white rice? Traditional rice pud is proper nostalgic comfort food though, isn't it? My mum made it every other Sunday when I was growing up. Apple pie, treacle tart or jam roly-poly the other weeks. It's a wonder I've got any teeth left! 😀

  12. Thank you, for another excellent recipe. Since a couple in my family do not like Basmati rice, I used Japanese rice, and the stove top method. Personally I enjoy either rice, but didn't want to listen to whining. 🤣🤣. It was delicious, and creamy. Love your Channel

  13. I made the oven version of the recipe, because it requires less effort, even if it takes longer. The result was delicious. When I took it out of the oven it looked like there was too much liquid left, but once it had cooled down, the texture was perfect.

  14. Hi John, I adore watching your videos and am inspired to purchase some of the items that you recommend; however the site pro food seems to be a hornet's nest and I'm anxious about purchasing from such a site. Can they really be trusted please?

  15. Ok John, I have to admit that I hate rice pudding ever since I was a child. But, anyway, still one of your lovely videos 😉

  16. Unfortunately, it’s a lot of carbohydrates which increases glucose for much longer than sugar and often something diabetics don’t realise. Even the medical community, for years, told diabetics to load up on carbs, pasta, potatoes etc. before they realised this. I am type 2 and discovered this when I went to 6 weeks of classes after diagnosis.
Of course you can eat and enjoy this and just be mindful of quantity.

  17. My mum is type 2 diabetic and has really been missing desserts. Thanks for sharing the recipe! If you'd like to make any more sugar free recipe videos, I'd love that!

  18. Love ❤ rice pudding. Always have. We had strawberry 🍓 jam on our school 🎒 rice pudding potions. Delicious 😋 every time. Thank you for another wonderful recipe. 😊 Great job as always 😊.

  19. John……..could you take a trip down memory lane and create some of the school dinners from 1960s….my absolute favourite was Shepherds Pie..but never can get thzt original taste…also cheese and onion pie….steam puddings etc etc

  20. Thanks for this recipe, Chef John. I'm Type2 diabetic and really love rice. I was told not to eat it at all. So is this pudding still okay for me?

  21. I’m having bread trouble. Hi John. I’ve saved lots of your vids over the years. Assume I’ve followed your instructions to the letter. I have a Kitchenaid mixer and the dough often sticks to the hook and just spins. (Speed 2)I found that adding a teaspoon of flower helped. My bread comes out looking lovely but with a very fine crumb. Almost cake density rather than airy and light. Suggestions please if you would. 😊Thank you.

  22. John will you please consider doing a meat loaf. I would greatly appreciate having your recipe for one👍🏼xxx
