Wow, another win from Kirkland!

Gigondas, Kirkland
2022
85% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre

Review:
Huge nose. Strawberry, raspberry, sweet plums, raisins, sawdust, and herbs. Full body. Medium length of finish, medium and firm tannins.
Decanted for 45 minutes.
This is by no means the best Gigondas you will have, but at this price point, it’s a home run. Unlike other cheap regional wines, this one is an actual expression of the terroir. For $14, it’s killer. 92/100

The 2021 vintage was too hot and lacking in quality tannins and complexity of flavor. The 2022 vintage is greatly improved. The wine is made by Guillaume Gonnet, whose family winery is Domaine Font de Michelle.

I’ve tried nearly every private label wine that has been available from my area Costcos over the last two years. This Gigondas might be the best one yet. My other personal favorites so far have been Kirkland’s Chablis and Vacqueyras.

I picked up 6 bottles of it just based on a previous review in r/wine. Gonna crack the first one tomorrow night with some pizza.

I’m looking forward to it even more now after seeing this post!

Thanks. I need to make a run this weekend.

My shitty Costco doesn’t get any of the more interesting Kirkland wines and I’m jealous.
