This is available for free near me. I have no idea what model it is and it looks in pretty rough shape, anyone reckon it’s salvageable?

Judging by the rusted out bottom pan, I’m gonna say it’s not worth your time. That pan provides the lateral support for the four legs, you’ve lost that support in the front at least and probably the back.

It depends on how much work you want to put into it. If you have the tools, and can weld, it can probably be done. If you need a grill right now and are handy with rust reformer and high temp paint, it could probably get you through to your next purchase, maybe.

That being said, this grill is super rough.

I literally just finished working on one exactly like that. Only difference was that the bottom panel, wasn’t completely detached, but it does have a hole in it from the rust. You can check my posts. Here’s how it went for me:

Took it apart and threw all the parts in a water/vinegar and Dawn dish soap mix. Let it sit for half a day.
Clean the grill exterior with a mix just like that as well.
Bought new burners (part 7508 for the three burners) for 34$ on eBay (not OEM but really good). Can post the link if you want. For the bottom panel, I’ll up using a baking pan and screw it in. All in all, it’s working like a charm, and for about 50$ on parts, and a half day having fun repairing it while drinking beer, I’d do it again.

    By the way, that’s a Weber Spirit Second Generation. I think it’s a E-210

Thanks for the responses, I thought as much that it may be too far gone. It has been on marketplace for a while probably for that reason, but thought it was worth checking with some of you Weber gurus!
