I just feel like it doesn't make sense for all this food to only be 1300 calories. I feel very bloated, like I ate too much and my weight went up so I'm wondering if there's a food I'm underestimating.

  1. “Gained 0.5 kg overnight” is not a thing.

I can also notice you logging cucumbers.
You are logging obsessively (even logging cucumbers), but at the same time you choose “medium” size for eggs and bananas.

You are torn between obsessiveness and the desire to game the system.

In my book, this is a sign of mental illness.

  2. You can’t gain .5 kg over night. The scale will go up and down daily. Its normal.

Maybe you’re lactose intolerant, or you’re eating more fiber and/or protein than you used to which can cause bloating, or you’re about to be on your period, or the ingredients from the muscle milk/cookie/protein tortilla is causing stomach issues because of the ultra processed ingredients. I know cabbage and other cruciferous raw veggies make me bloated and farty.

Hard to tell but if you’re weighing in grams with a food scale you’re likely not counting wrong. I add 50 “blank” calories to my log to account for inaccuracies

Weigh yourself once a week first thing in the morning. Comparing yourself different times the same 24 hour period is just food in and out

It’s more likely that there was an error in the scale or the way you weighed yourself than actually gaining weight overnight, which is the opposite of what happens.

If you under eat your body will store nutrition to try and protect your body from starvation. This is why dieting is so risky and why often people end up much heavier than they were to start. It’s important to respect what your body actually needs to survive, in order to protect the function of your metabolism.

An increase of a few pounds is normal. Retaining water weight and shedding it periodically is normal. Being bloated sometimes is normal. It’s not because you ate too much or counted calories wrong, it’s just a natural part of how your body functions.

What you are looking for is to see a downward trend on the scale over a period of several weeks and months. During that time, there will be increases and decreases in your daily weight all along the way.

0,5kg is literally a big cup of water.

I have a smart scale and my weight has recently been jumping up and down by 2kg each time I’ve weighed myself, to a point where I audible laughed over the volatility of my weight.

The thing is that your weight reflects water and digestive system content and thus fluctuates too much for a single measurement to be meaningful. Hell even a week or measurements may not even be completely representative.

This is my most recent weight (I’ve recently begun doing a lot of exercise and eating healthy).

As you can see my weight on short term goes up and down like it’s got BPD. But the trend across many measurements is that it’s going down. My high measurement are now below 79.5 and low are below 78kg, they used to be 80.5 and 79 ish respectively.

(This also doesn’t account for bodily recomposition, where I’ve also replaced a fair amount of fat with muscle tissue, making my body more lean than if I had merely lost 1 kg of fat)

Your weight will fluctuate daily, it’s normal. This also looks like a carb heavy day with lots of fruits, sugar, cereal, oatmeal, etc. Carbs will make you retain a bit more water, also normal. Reducing/swapping for more protein might help with the bloated feeling.

Not sure what the other commenter is talking about. Are you measuring all these weights and volumes with a scale or measuring cups? If so, they look pretty good. The only thing I’d double check is that chicken and cookie.

I’d say unless you were eyeballing grams, you’re probably bloated because of a sudden spike in fiber. Breakfast and lunch are both pretty high, unknown if dinner and snacks are too. You’ll adjust, but try increasing fiber more slowly.

I have weighed myself in the morning and gone to the doctor a few hours later (fasted, for getting blood work done) and “gained” 7 pounds. Mine might be more extreme but a little weight fluctuation is normal IMO
