Recently (yesterday) awarded a Bib Gourmand by Michelin, Tare Bistro is located in the Whapping Wharf area of Bristol. Located in a busy shipping container area, there is a real buzz around the place.

Predominantly small plates, they also offer a tasting menu of these small plates. No amendments for me, but they appeared to be fine with switching dishes for others on the wider menu

Course 1 – Snacks

A beautiful cheese tart, with a great bite to it
A light smokey haddock beignet as well, sets you up well for the courses to follow

Course 2 – Smoked Beetroot
Light and fresh, with a nice creamyness from the whipped curd

Course 3 – Chalk Stream Trout
Another light dish, lovely slightly cured trout. Hits of heat and sweetness from the wasabi and the apple

Course 4 – Prawn Cannelloni
The star dish. A prawn mousse, with chunks of beautifully cooked prawns. Wrapped in perfectly cooked pastry, with an intense scallop XO. Served with a beure blanc sauce

Course 5 – Venison
Rich and intense. Lovely venison, rich sauce lifted by the pear

Course 6 – Rhubarb tart
Light, fresh, creamy, sweet and tart. Exactly what you want from a dessert

The menu as a whole was really well balanced. The flavours built and built, culminating with the rich venison dish, and then the rhubarb cleared the pallet well.

Great value, great service and I'd definitely recommend
