If it didn’t smell and taste like canned dog food… maybe

  2. In Europe all dog food has to be fit for human consumption. Also I have tried something similar before. Fine but bland and texture not great.

Can’t stand the smell of canned pet food so absolutely not

  4. I mean that looks like what they used to serve us at school, didn’t taste that bad back then so I’d try it.

If I opened a can of meat and it smelled the way dog food does, there’s no way I’m trying it, no matter the label.

Has anyone actually eaten canned pet food before? How does it taste? I have cats and I’ll be honest, there’s intrusive thoughts every time I open a can of cat food

    Meanwhile, college kids…

  8. Visually, kinda looks like some adobo or something. Would smash that plate.

Except… I can smell this picture and I threw up in my mouth a little

The guys who were climbing Yosemite in the 60s and 70s talk about eating cat food

  10. ChillCommissar

Please, someone who has eaten pet food.

Make an alt and get in here for science

Looks like carne guisada, I’m afraid I might 😭

The smell would be the give away, followed by the taste that I’m sure comes with that smell

Idk anything about this brand of dog food, but most of the time animal food is full of crude protein, which humans don’t turn into muscle very efficiently.

Judge me all you want but one time I made canned dog food- I think it was beef?- and after adding some salt, chilli powder and curry, it was pretty good. Had it with rice.

I cant wait for the bachelor chow from futurama to be a real thing

My dog would eat it before I could…

I wouldnt care even with the label on it. The problem is that it smells and probably tastes like diarrhea, so no.

  18. Ate it once because I lost a bet, it’s gritty and tastes pretty bad, but not as bad as it smells.
But I’m sure if someone set their mind to it and experimented how to prepare it for human consumption I’d at least try it, the macros are just that good

  19. The question is rather whether it is real husky meat. Perhaps only old street dogs were processed.

I’d think it’s curry chicken right off the bat

Worked for a pet food company. If it sells in the EU, the standards for quality and safety are more rigorous than human foods. We always heard stories about how quality inspectors and sometimes visitors were expected to taste-test the product.

If you eat steak from Taco Bell you have no high horse to sit on at all, you already eat dog food

  23. curtysquirty

Do i still get to know what it’s made from? Because absolutely not

I work in a meat processing plant. All the gross shit we discard gets sent to rendering plants to be made into pet food

When I was a kid I would sometimes stay at my aunt’s house, when she would feed her cat she’d eat the canned food as well. One spoon for the cat, one for herself, repeat until the can is empty.

  25. _LadyGodiva_

This is not human grade food. There’s a reason why these labels usually say that it’s not for human consumption.

  26. It honestly doesn’t LOOK that bad. But besides that… Apparently elderly folks struggling for cash have been known to eat dog food, so I guess it’d be fine.

Reminds me of an episode of Extreme Cheapskates. Lady (who is a millionaire) feeds her ex-husband a tuna fish sandwich. But it’s actually cat food.

Not a vengeful thing, I think they’re friends after the divorce. It’s just that the cat food was 10¢ cheaper.

  28. Artistic-Gap-45

All dog food in the US is made safe for human consumption due to times of economic depression. Voila heres your depression

  29. SuperHandsMiniatures

Its gonna smell like dog food though, so no.

Nah I can still afford real food I’m good!

My alcoholic dad once opened a can of that and ate it with a spoon. A whole case of some Pedigree Pate was sitting on my kitchen table. He argued with me that he ate a can of corned beef. I’m pretty sure even after I showed him the dog on the can he insisted it was indeed corned beef lol – so who knows. Maybe it’s not so bad.

I admit, I’ve tried a little bit before myself. Doesn’t taste as good as it looks, my dog begs to differ though 😅🤢 I have had some beef dog treats that were just as good as beef jerky for humans.
