They say the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach. Keeping your loved ones’ well-fed can be difficult on a college students’ budget. Luckily, Valentine’s Day snacks, whether you buy them or make them yourself, are not only a great opportunity to bond with others through the joy of food. Here are some fun Valentine’s Day snacks and recipes.
1) Strawberry Sorbet
If you love dessert but are concerned about your sugar and calorie intake, this simple strawberry sorbet recipe is perfect for you. The only downside is you need to let it freeze overnight, so if you plan to serve it on Valentine’s Day, get started on the 13th.
2) Pink Cadillac Gummies
These pink gummies are shaped like actual pink cadillacs. They come in three different flavors, strawberry, cherry, and blackcurrant. They’re snackable and perfect for sharing. You can find these at Ralphs.
3) Mini Red Velvet Cupcakes
Red velvet cupcakes are a classic sweet treat. These come in a mini size, small enough for bringing to parties and sharing with friends. You can get these from Target, or you can make them at home with a delicious cream cheese frosting with this recipe.
4) Valentine’s Day Gingerbread House
Gingerbread houses don’t have to just be for Christmas. Building gingerbread houses is a great activity for both enjoying a sweet treat and working on your craftsmanship. Gingerbread houses are great to build with loved ones, whether you make a beautiful house or the whole thing falls apart.
5) Trader Joe’s Heart-Shaped Macarons
If you want to elevate your cookie game and go beyond bringing frosted sugar cookies to parties, go with these heart-shaped macarons. These come in vanilla creme with strawberry or raspberry filling.
6) Valentine’s Day Sugar Cookies
If you’d rather go with a classic cookie option, you can bring traditional frosted sugar cookies too. These come in pink and red and are always a crowd pleaser. You can find these at Target.
7) Sugar Cookie Dough Hearts
This is along the sugar cookie route, but with a lot less frosting. These might be preferable to frosted sugar cookies if you’re not as much of a sugar fanatic. You can find these at Trader Joe’s.
8) Birthday Cake Pops
Pink and sprinkles are perfect for Valentine’s Day. You can get these at Starbucks, but they can be pricey and are about seven dollars for two. If you plan to feed a larger number of people, it might be a better idea to make them at home. You can find a recipe here.
9) Lindor White Chocolate Raspberry Truffles
Chocolate is a Valentine’s Day necessity. Lindor chocolates, with a hard shell and melted chocolate inside, are a delicious classic. If you want a special Valentine’s Day twist, you can go with the white chocolate raspberry.
10) Strawberries and Creme Trail Mix
If you want to bring something to your Valentine’s Day party that no one else will, go with this strawberries and creme trail mix for some extra variety. You can get these at Target and Trader Joe’s.
