It’s my first time planting tomato seeds in soil and I was wondering if I should transplant them to individual cups now or wait until the leaves are bigger. Any tips and advices would be appreciated.

  1. How long did they take to get to this point? I feel like mine are taking FOREVER. Lol

Wait until they have at least 2 sets of true leaves to up-pot. The leaves you see now are the seed leaves or cotyledons. The tiny leaves forming at the top of the plants are the first set of true leaves.

If you handle EXTREMELY carefully, you could separate and transplant.

That said, most folks don’t understand, or can’t accommodate, the extremely careful part…

I would wait longer. Give them 5-7 days and reevaluate.

Do you mean transplant outside or pot them up? These are way too small to go outside yet. You could pot them up now as long as you are careful.

There’s no rush right now, they aren’t close to running out of space. You’re just barely starting to see true leaves come in. I’d give them a little more time.

Keep one seedling 🌱 per cup water it and watch it grow happy gardening 👩‍🌾
