Step 1. Roll out like a tortilla
Step 2. Cut into quarters
Step 3. Cut those quarters into 3 triangles
Step 4. Layer the triangles on top of one another
Step 5. Pinch the bottoms of the triangles together to prevent unraveling.
Step 6. Roll from leftmost triangle keeping the bottom even.
Step 7. Fan the ‘leaves’ outwards to create the rose.

ah from your description i thought the sharper (center) angles faced up! I guess that would make it look more artichoke or cactus than rose.
