My first 2 steaks I’ve ever made vs the shit my dad has been cooking for me my whole life
First 2 pics are of the very first steak I ever made after watching a single youtube video. 3rd pic is one I made the other night. 4th is what my dad cooks. He says it’s good…

Asmongold approves of your dad’s steak.

Your doing good with the steak, the second one is closer to my level of done, I prefer mine blue. As far your dads, that is a crime against perfectly good beef, zero reason to abuse steak like that

“How bad could it possibly be?” I thought. Oh dear. Ooooooohhh DEAR.
Your dad needs to have his stove taken away from him. Permanently.

Bless your dad’s little cotton socks. He’s trying. I hope you thanked him.

Next time use some thyme instead of rosemary

Cooking like that is what made me grow up hating steak and wondering why people enjoyed it. Then I became an adult and realised it was just the way my mum cooked it….

I grew up eating T-bones almost every weekend, because that’s what my dad loved, only he would cook them until they were well-done+, so I thought they were meh at best, and had to be drowned in A1, until I was a teen and was given my first medium-rare steak. I absolutely love steak now, but I’ve seriously mourned the amount of money, and prime cuts of beef, that was wasted in my childhood.
My personal favorite is a good, giant ribeye from Texas Roadhouse, and it doesn’t even need any sauce.
Yours definitely looks good!

Lol I thought the third picture was your dad’s, I was like “that steak looks great, it has good crust, what an ungrateful son”, then I saw the 4th pic, yup.. I’ve never seen “steak” looks that sad before.

OMG I know this feel. My parents thought ‘rare’ meant having only a slight hint of pink left in the middle so I grew up thinking steak was always kindy bland and chewy, and wondered why people raved about it so much. Then I finally cooked one myself following a proper how2cooksteak guide such that there was still lots of pink in the middle and it tasted absolutely amazing. The only difference was not cooking it as long! Now I wonder why my parents subject themselves to such poorly cooked meals. It’s not like taking it off 5 minutes sooner requires any great skill…

Ahhh milk steak, my favourite

Genuine question. Can someone explain what the point of eating raw meat? I would take 4-th picture any day of the week instead of first 3.
