Rudy’s gets hate but I think it rocks. Sure it doesn’t compare with the top craft spots, but you can order point cut/extra moist brisket for way less than those places charge and you’re eating within 5 minutes of getting there.

Which location? The one up on 183, that location’s breakfast tacos pretty much got me through college.
Rudy’s is never going to blow you away. But, depending on the location, it can still be really good.

I like Rudys. They have good turkey.

In Texas, and even more so in Austin, Rudy’s gets ignored because of all the really great places. If we had a Rudy’s in Northern Virginia it would make the Washington Post top 10 list for bbq. I wish I had one closer to me.

Banana pudding top left? Good choice. Been out of Austin for 20 years now but Rudy’s was always a good spot.

Rudy’s is not bad. It’s solid, and cheaper than “craft” bbq

Jumbo baked potato with double moist brisket and a half pound of turkey is my go to order. Great bbq for the price.

Rudy’s does turkey and jalapeño cheddar sausage right. When I visit TX I don’t search it out but have always enjoyed meal when I did go.

I used to eat at the Rudy’s near Sea World, but this was before Doc Holiday passed away. After the franchise deal, the quality did slip, but it’s still a good value.

Glad to see the Rudys support in here, they get wayyy too much hate.
Its damn good chain gas station BBQ, don’t sleep on the breakfast tacos.

It gets hate because they have branched out and no longer a “hip” place lol thanks social media

Rudy’s is fine. Nobody in Austin goes to the big name places to pick up dinner on a random Wednesday night. Everyone has an ‘every day’ joint and for many it is Rudy’s.
Their breakfast tacos are good as well. Not the best ,but good enough when you don’t want to spend an hour getting one.

I love their sides. Their potato salad and creamed corn are awesome.

Just checked out the Menu….pretty low prices.

I ate there once. My only trip to Texas. I couldn’t remember the name until this post. Great food.

Rudy’s quality definitely varies by location. For the most part, they’re pretty good. I’ve been to one bad one. I’ve been to two that just have some fantastic food for a chain. Prices don’t piss me off when I look at them. There’s no wait.
People who compare Rudy’s to the boutique spots is like comparing La Madeleine to the French Laundry. There’s no comparison, but I can’t fucking afford the French Laundry.

Rudys is hands down the best bang for your buck when it comes to BBQ. They offer a 20% military discount on top of that!!!

Do they not have the green chili corn soup there? That’s amazing
TSUTexan61
You didn’t get their creamed corn! Good choices elsewhere though!
SonsoDisgracado
Rudy’s is like ice cream…even when it’s not your favorite flavor, it’s still pretty damn good.

If we had a Rudy’s here in Michigan it would be the best bbq joint in the state, hands down. Trashing Rudy’s is a first world problem, if you’re doing it it’s because you don’t realize how good you have it

I started my smoking life back 20 years ago with their rub and Sause.
