Hear me out, my mortgage lifter were near my black cherries. The ML are def purplish and slightly smaller.

Is it possible they got crossed?

    Cross pollination only affects the seeds produced from the fruit that develops from the flower that was cross pollinated, it doesn’t change the fruit produced on the current plant. You either got a mismarked variety, or the parent plant this plant came from had been cross pollinated.
