The fam likes it pretty rare. They were pleased. How’d I do by Reddit standards?

Increase heat. Lower the time. Could be more rare and less grey ring.

I love my grill, but I tell you what…once I tried a cast iron skillet on the stove for my steaks, I knew that I’d never go back.

That said, I used my smoker for some good ribeyes last weekend to slowly warm them up prior to a fast sear inside on the cast iron, and they were amazing.  Look up how to reverse sear.  Next level for home-cooked steaks.

Strips with that gorgeous fat should be cooked to medium rare at least just to give the fat a chance to render a bit more, imo.

That fat is gonna be chewy, not melty. Otherwise beautiful.

    That’s like a medium-well but looks good

You better put that back on the grill

I wouldn’t even call this rare or medium rare.

    This is a medium/medium well

Grill’s definitely not hot enough for trying to hit that rare with a good sear. You want the fat to render and bleed into the rest of your steak. I’m glad your family enjoyed it! Keep grilling and figure out what works for you

The top one in first pic looks a little bit like a penis, but other than that they look medium at least
