  1. Wow so many different rice dishes – and some of them really surprising! It is amazing how much variety the world has to offer ๐Ÿ˜Š

  2. Astonishing channel. Wow! So many beautiful recipes and cultures. I can't wait to make versions of these dishes at home.

  3. Bingjiang looks & feels much like a mango lassi & would work very well for a Chinese take on Indian food, an inverse of Indo-Chinese if one would. These other dishes would work well in a homestyle cafe & the pidi would likely work greatly in a yum cha setting as a dim sum

  4. My favourite use of rice. Rice noodles covered in chocolate. You get chocolate haystacks. Although some people use wheat noodles. Both can be good. The thinner dried noodle is all you want. So you can get the right crunch factor. You make them into small bite sized rounds. (chocolate haystacks)

  6. Here I was thinking I invented a new dish and meanwhile I just combined two of these without knowing about them…. I call it "The Lazy Person's Lowcountry Dinner" and I "invented" it because my local grocery very often has cold fried chicken on sale. Cold fried chicken is great if it's the same day, but after a day in the fridge it starts feeling a bit dry and if you heat it in the microwave or even toaster oven then it gets greasy… So I figured… RICE COOKER!!!!

I make the fried chicken rice in the rice cooker, but I put the chicken in the steamer basket so the fats and flavor drip into the rice, I add a tomato or two directly to the rice as well as sometimes also adding about a quarter cup of drained canned seasoned butterbeans, black eyed peas, or field peas. I rarely add anything else except a dash of hot sauce and some ground black pepper as the salt and seasonings from the chicken and canned beans, transfer well, and add to the tomato sauce. Once it's done I shred the chicken, add it to the rice, beans and tomato, and bam, a one pot dinner that costs like three dollars total.

  7. Im so glad i saw my country in your video!!!๐Ÿ˜ Spinach rice is a favorite dish!!! Thank you๐Ÿฅฐ

  8. Iโ€™ve never seen almonds and sesame seeds added on top of bubur ketan hitam in Indonesia, but now that you did, it does make sense. Iโ€™ve seen ripe mangoes (cut into small dices) or vanilla ice cream added on top though.

  9. Beryl, I HAVE to know where you get your earrings!! I've watched your show for a while and have always been fascinated by them. (Although I may be mis-remembering due to a memory disorder).

Also, your dishware, I love it!! ๐Ÿ˜‚ That cool little thing that you rinsed your rice in is a good example, as well as the dishes you eat out of, (such as that blue bowl with a cap),but also the dishes you're baking things in. I'm a VERY astheticly minded person. I know it SHOULDN'T make a difference, but when looking at something makes me happy, the cooking experience is just that much happier all around, and makes me want to do it more!
(Please leave links to where we can aquire these dishes!)

Honestly, Beryl, you just rock 100%

  10. I see the chocolate rice in my future. That one looked yummy. I would try a lot of these dishes, though. I love rice it's filling and hardy to me. I also don't like eating a lot of meats.

  11. I have two favorite rice breakfasts, one savory and one sweet. Both use leftover white rice. For the sweet version, heat leftover rice with whole milk and a pat of butter in the microwave until hot. Top with cinnamon and sugar.
For the savory version, heat rice with a splash of water. Add a pat of butter, top with a fried egg, drizzle with soy sauce and toasted sesame oil. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Thank you for these recipes. Rice is a favorite ingredient in my kitchen. Iโ€™m looking forward to trying them.

  12. Great to see something Lao in the lineup. Nam khao and everything else Lao ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฆ is always outstanding. I've had it with beef nam (raw fermented sausage) and chewy buffalo skin mixed in the salad or even just as crispy balls.

  13. So many rice dishes to try! Thank you Beryl and to everyone who shared their recipes! I grew up in the Philippines and my mother used to say "it's not a meal if it doesn't have rice". Yes, we also eat rice for breakfast. Lol. When I went on a weight loss journey 3 years ago, I decided that my diet has to have rice in order for it to be sustainable. I've lost almost 80 lbs. since then and I eat rice at least one meal a day.

  14. I wish I was your friend or neighbor so I could enjoy all this amazing cooking you do ๐Ÿคค

  15. where can we see what the next video topics are? how do i know what ingredients or dishes you are looking for? I would love to share a recipe

  16. Such a great variety of delicious rice dishes! I need to try some of them soon, and thank you so much for featuring my Nasi Telur Kichap manis again ๐Ÿ˜Š A super simple, comforting and taste dish โค

  17. Beryl, Beryl, Beryl, Beryl,
    You have outdone yourself!

    These rice dishes are AMAZING!
These could be a cookbook all by themselves!

This episode brings the world together via everyoneโ€™s love of delicious rice!

  18. Fun episode! The tomato rice is my kind of lazy/delicious food. Alas, i will have to wait until June or July. For those outside tge US, we have bountiful food, but vegetables in a supermarket are generally flavorless. We are so big, the commercial farms harvest too early. Thankfully, most communities have local farmer's markets & in rural areas road side stand. Sone people are not pivky, buf i was taught to eat seasonally. Happily, i have ample fried chicken bjoints nearby

  19. I love the way you did the split screen for this video. Please keep doing this if it's not too difficult. Love your videos โค

  20. Please show us an uncurated look at your pantry!!! U must have a billion little containers of spices, seasonings, condiments & cans. I know you like trying EVERYTHING (just like me) so your pantry has to look a little familiar!๐Ÿ˜‚

  21. Sydney & Katie: Your Obasan's fried rice is pretty close to the sausage fried rice my family makes. My grandparents were all from Japan. Fried rice is also our Christmas tradition ๐Ÿš

  22. Beryl, you bring the world together. More power and more cooking adventures to you!

  23. I can relate to the Nasi Telur Kicap. Yummy
We here in Sabah use the Dark Soy Sauce with a Rooster pic on it.
PS I Wonder if i can send you the soy sauce โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜

  24. Thank you to all the wonderful people who contributed these fantastic recipes and dishes to this video. When the world's politicians push us apart, good food of so many types from so many places and cultures bring us together again.
Thank you Beryl, for these videos which also bring us together. I wish you could win a Nobel Peace Prize for it.

  25. I think I have whiplash from keeping up with these but they were really great! Thanks for this one Beryl!

  26. I'm a diabetic and I banned myself from rice. But I grew up eating rice (I'm Bengali), and I just. can't. stop. myself. from. watching. this!! UGH!!! OMG. God give me strength! Btw, I love an Indonesian dish that I actually discovered in Amsterdam back in 2000. It's called Nasi Goreng. DELICIOUS STUFF. I saw it in Trader Joe's in Falls Church (near DC) when I used to live in NOVA. But I can't find it anymore. Probably a good thing. I would also love to send you my mother's special Bengali rice pudding recipe made with half 'n half and jaggery.
