It’s known as “fasciation”! It happens when the growing tip of the fruit becomes elongated and flattened. There are many reasons it happens, genetic mutations, some sort of damage to fruit as it’s growing, hormonal imbalances, or infections. Shouldn’t have a negative effect on the fruit – gives the garden character.
