I just used my Nespresso for the first time, and this plastic piece keeps popping out. When I close the top and then go to open it, it gets stuck partway closed and I have to jimmy my fingers under the top to get it open. Any idea what it is/how to fix it??

its supposed to discard of your pod after being used, but it usually goes across and im no expert but it looks like they gave you a damaged machine
By getting stuck halfway closed, do you mean like in the 4th picture? That’s completely normal, just flick the handle to the right and it’ll pop right open.
If your problem is that those plastic pieces aren’t popping out and they’re just staying hidden at the top, that’s an issue, call Nespresso.
Those pieces are part of the mechanism and they’re supposed to be out like that.
It’s supposed to pop out on both sides when the lid is open. It has guard rails for the pod to be ejected when the lid opens. It should close automatically when you close the lid. It looks like you got a faulty piece.
What is it? It’s broken is what it is. Return and get a new one
All nespresso machines are terribly engineered. Learned that the hard way. Throw it out and buy a ninja coffee machine or another more reliable brand
Yeah, you need to return that.
Warm water and a toothbrush. Clean the underside of the upper lid. Clean clean clean. Then run a rinse clean cycle.
You likely got a used one in a new box. Looks way dirty to be new.
