Bought used, did a clean burn cycle and cooked gasket. Figured that was my issue with inconsistent temp. New gasket and now I see the lid doesn’t sit properly. How to adjust or do I need new brackets? Thanks for any help

Strip all the metal components and replace them with the updated components. Keep the outer shell, fire pit, and fire ring. Then you can open it up, remove the top, and burn it out. You’ll basically have a new green egg. Also, splurge on a stainless basket for the charcoal. Bonus points for cast iron grill plate.

Easy adjustment for over or underbite. Keyword Search “Captain Ron BGE Fix Overbite Underbite”. His videos are the best for all things BGE and Fogo related. His cooks are sensational as well. All good stuff.

  3. YouTube is good source. Basically, raise lid till springs are neutral, then remove. Close lid, loosen the ring joints and bands, reseat the ring, then reset the hinge points with lid in proper position. Raise, and put the springs back on. I’ll think you’ll find good results.
    Happy cooking.

  4. I’m not sure if it’s still used, but the dollar bill test worked for many years before bge started selling eggs with the band alignment plastic tabs

Otherwise, the plastic alignment tabs are the easiest way to set your bands. A new egg used to come with 3 of them, 5 or 6 are better.

Now eggs come from the factory with the bands attached, so there really shouldn’t be much trouble on a new egg.
