Always had great, friendly service. Food is solid, and quick.

My partner tried the rib eye and it was actually seasoned and cooked well!

  2. It’s always good. And I like the ambiance. When I walk in there, I feel like I’m on a stereotypical 1970s family restaurant movie set. I expect to see George Clooney and Brad Pitt at a table having coffee and reprising a role.

Is this the one near Burnet Rd or the one near McNeil? Just curious because I go to the one near Burnet and I’ve always wondered if the north location was better.

I love Jim’s, please go back to 24 hours!

  5. Man, I miss Jims. Huge breakfast tacos, triple decker club sandwich. Diner waitresses who have seen it all and never get your order wrong. They used to have a smoking section LOL. Wish there was one south of Austin.

Crispy hash browns are the best hash browns.

I eat here about once a week with my kids, sometimes before school. They have good deals on kids meals that they love. For me, I stick to the basics of eggs, bacon, and biscuits and it hits the spot, comparable to a waffle house. I was less impressed with their other breakfast offerings like migas and biscuits and gravy.

The ambience is certainly special. It’s like stepping back in time, with the worn out carpet everywhere. Until a few weeks ago, the only way to pay by credit card was still to swipe (no tap to pay or chip!) and was probably the last place I know who still did that

  8. I love Jim’s! There are actually two on Research, but I’ve been to both and they are both solid.

My favorite will always be the Oak Hill one. Such good memories of going there at 2am to get breakfast back in the day (when I was young and had energy like that)

Jim’s is a solid Diner. Growing up in another area we had a similar chain called Lyon’s which faded away years ago. Jim’s captures that same feel so I frequent them regularly. I just wished they were 24 hours again like they were pre covid.

These places are so much better then IHOP and Dennys.

    Jim’s is a great ole American 🇺🇸 breakfast 🍳

Right by the brewery and I go there often. I love everything about it, except the customers who whip all the way across the frontage road to get into the lot.

Also worth knowing they make the best grilled cheese sandwiches in town.

Which one, Burnet Road or Spicewood Springs? No matter, they’re both great.

  15. Best hangover cure: Chicken Fried Steak Breakfast w/ well done hash browns, fried eggs, biscuits with gravy in the side.

Bonus points for setting the architectural design trend for P Terrys lol

This was the meeting point with my divorced parents for the handoff. I haven’t been inside since I was a kid.

    I should go back!!

Years ago, mid order the wonderful waitress stopped my and said “honey, you don’t want the Mac and cheese today, somethings off.” Can’t argue with that and will always love that location.

Oh fuck yeah. It’s such a treat to saddle up to the counter at Jim’s and get the chicken-fried chicken breakfast with eggs over medium, ketchup and salt on crispy hashbrowns, toast and a hot coffee. Pull out a paperback to read while I eat and I am one happy camper.

Also if you haven’t tried the chicken-fried chicken you should. It is so delicious and tender. 100% recommend it over the chicken-fried steak.

Shout out to Judy! I went last week and she was so sweet. ❤️

Jim’s is never going to win any awards but it delivers what you expect at a price that is reasonable. We need more places that do that.

Eating there feels kind of like getting warped back to a time in my life I can’t get back to anymore.

  21. Feels so old school i could almost light a smoke inside. Reminds me of a simpler time.

Chicken fried steak breakfast is one of my favorites of all breakfast of all time. Love Jim’s.

  23. The frontier burger (I think that is the name) is on point every single time. So good!

Jims and Omlettery are keeping classic diner alive for me.

God, I love Jim’s. Spent many a 2am night there in my 20’s eating after dancing at the clubs. This was 30 years ago and it is still one of my favorite junky breakfasts around.

  26. Love Jim’s. It’s a real deal greasy spoon and I say that lovingly.
