So civilized! I had neighbourhood ladies over for a far more casual afternoon tea last summer and they expressed some discomfort at how “fancy” it was. Sheesh. Evidently you need to prepare people for beauty. That is a gorgeous table you spread.

PS. I have a very (irrational maybe) fear of using beautiful China like this. I am so afraid the silverware will scratch the beautiful dishes and cups. I would be devastated. I have this cup and saucer that is an antique my late mom gave me that was her grandparents. I keep it on display but I would love to use it. It’s so intricate with a scene on it but I’d be crushed if I scratched or broke it.
