I’d say it was not a 100% perfect bottle but it was definitely not off… Smells and tastes like a very high end Burgundy; elegant and complex but with a power and intensity behind it too. Rapsberry, sour red cherry, red currants, violets and flowers. Some warmer spices, and a touch of stoney fresheness. Hint of balsamic?

Acidic freshness present with an underripe cherry and fried fruit and floral note on finish. Shorter length and higher acidiy likely due to poorer vintage but I have no doubt this is top Burgundy from a poor vintage and otherwise not lacking.

Cool to try one of the 596 bottles made. Tasted in a public housing flat in Singapore.

Leroy almost always have soaked corks and signs of leaking. When I asked at the Domaine about it, they explained they like to get the corks wet for some reason, couldn’t quite understand it myself, but the majority of Leroy I open tend to have soaked corks!

They overfill bottles. Leaking is very common, but the bottles are usually fine.
