I don’t want it to fail mid-cook. Anova says that since it’s out of warranty, I’m out of luck.

This nano is from 2019. 6 years is a pretty good run, and I want to replace it with something reliable and not too much money
(Less than $200). I probably use the sous vide 1-2/month on average. Some cooks (like ribs) I do for 24-30 hours.

Suggestions are welcome.

Slam the impeller on the counter. Mine was making that noise in January 2021, still purring like a kitten now. I have a back up still in the box from Crate and Barrrel when I complained back then, but once in a while a quick bang on the counter fixes the old one

My machine made a similar noise until I removed the little plastic cover from the bottom. I decided to put the cover back on to prevent the corner of my bag from getting sucked into the impeller and I just try to ignore the random vibration noises.

I had a similar issue with the motor making loud noises. Sounded like it was grinding. Took it apart and tried to realign the rod that spins. Deep cleaned with de-scaling solution. Didn’t do anything to help the sound.

Take off the base, turn it upside down, then drop a small amount of food grade mineral oil or a neutral oil down the rod. Just enough to get into the gears. Hand rotate the rod to help coat the parts, and let it sit for a few minutes. Wipe off any excess oil and turn it back on to make sure the issue has been corrected. This saved me from buying a brand new unit after only 1 year.

    Hopefully this helps!

The secret is that anova, while early in the SV trend, is mostly trash.
